Nina looked up at the trapdoor. The only speck of light came from her wristwatch. the battery was low. Her eyes widened as she heard footsteps from above. She began to shiver.
She could faintly hear her mother's high-pitched cackle.
"Darling, are you ready to cooperate?"
"Never!" Nina spat, her voice was strained.
Nina heard her mother pause. Bright light cascaded into every crevice of the room.
A large black shadow walked down the stairs with something held in front of it.
The shape revealed itself to be Nina's older brother, Nate. "Hello Nina," Nate smiled deviously, "This is our memory scanner," he gestered towards the box, "We need to know where you got your powers from."
I will never talk to you!" a tear blurred her vision, "Never!"
"We'll see about that, even if you don't talk, you'll always think," Nate smirked as he opened the box. He attatched a pair of sticky and dirty suction cups onto Nina's forehead. "Get those of me!" Nina screamed. Another shadow appeared on the stairwell.
"Nina, Nina, Nina, don't give our dear brother a hard time," Nina's older sister, Natalia sung as she walked towards them. "Play nice, or we'll have to get mother involved,"
Nina froze and eyed her siblings. "What do you wnt from me? WHat have i ever done to you?" she fought back her tears.
"Don't play dumb Nina," Nate huffed as he continued pushing buttons on the device. "You know what you did," he said as he glanced upwards.
Nina raised her eyebrows at them. Natalia sat down next to Nina and narrowed her eyes.
"This may hurt," Nate said as he pressed the big red center button. Electricity coursed through her entire body.
Nina felt tears run down her cheeks, she tried to blink them away before they completely blinded her.
Nate watched the device as something flashed on the scanner. Nina watched as her brother typed in her name, N-I-N-A. A look of sorrow and remorse flashed in his eyes. Deep down, he cared, Nina now knew that.
Apparently, Natalia noticed realized this too. "What is wrong with you? What are you doing" Natalia screamed at him.
Nate quickly composed himself once again.
"Ahem," a new voice spoke out.
Natalia spun around, "Hello mother,"
Their mother narrowed her eyes at Nate, "Give me that," she snapped. Nate complied and quickly handed over the device.
Their mother turned to face Nina once again. She smiled at her, but not in the I will always love and care for you way, but in the Your an idiotic little girl, kind of way. "I'd say this would only hurt a bit, but that would be a lie. This will hurt a lot." her mother said.
The last thing Nina saw was the three of them staring down at her befor the world went black.
