Amanda's POV

It's a casual Saturday night. Netflix, chips, texting, and instagram updates. Call me basic but I don't care cause I know it's true.

Suddenly, there was a buzz coming from my phone held in my hand. I answered it, "Yo."

"Manda!! There's this new social app called kik, and I wanted to let you know so that you can get it, I know you would never turn down another social app." My friend Casey exclaimed.

That's true, my life is put out on Instagram, Tumblr, and other apps. Whether it's a photo with a couple friends or a tumblr outfit post, there's thousands of people behind the screen watching my daily life. Sounds creepy, but it changed my life from being a total noob to a social media star.

You see, I get thousands, even millions of likes every day. It's because I'm one of the first people to make an account on that app. I'm also probably the most active Instagram account ever.

"So will you download it?"

"Of course I will! You know me. What's your user?"

"CaseyG333" (don't search up that user, it's probably real)

"Kay thanks."

"Btw it's a texting app."

"So no posting at all?"

"If texting counts then yeah."

"Does that mean no?"

"Yup."

"Got it, I'll text ya. Peace."

I hung up. This app doesn't let you post anything? Such a lame app I mean come on, there's iMessage. Kids these days don't know what's up.

I downloaded the app. Firmly pressing down on the icon, the logo popped up on the screen. Well, I will give creds to whoever made the logo.

I then registered as MandaX. That is also my other social media app names too. Then there was something where it says to connect kik to my contacts. I got 75 recommended users. I guess a lot of people use it now?

Then there was this search bar thing. I tapped on it and it showed to search up users and hashtags. Being my weird self, I typed in some random letters to see who would pop up. The first suggestion was a person named 'James2113'.

I don't know who this person is but whatever. I decided to press chat and I texted something to 'him'.

Amanda: Hello

What if he actually answers? What did I do?! But the purpose of this app is to talk to random people, right? That means that this is okay. Yeah, it's okay, calm down.

It's been 30 minutes and there's no reply. Oh whale, this is probably a good thing then.

James' POV

"Thanks for returning my homework to Miss Caulfield." My girlfriend, Lissa said, ruffling my hair. I rolled my eyes playfully and fixed up my hair.

"No problem. That witch is probably the most less vulnerable people I have ever met."

Lissa nodded, agreeing to my statement.

Lissa and I have been dating for 5 months. We met from this school project and we didn't know each other before it happened. Even though she is cruel to other people during to school, she has this sweet side no one knows. She is I guess you can call 'Class A bitch' at school, not to offend her or anything but it's true.

She let go of me and unlocked her phone.

"Did you hear about the new app?"

"What app?"

"It's called Kik and I heard MandaX has one!" She squealed. I don't know who this "MandaX" person is but she seems to be really well known around here. Even my girlfriend is sucked into it.

I ignored the last part and looked up Kik on the App Store. After it was finished downloaded, I registered an account using the user: James2113. I used the same user over and over again for every app I have.

I looked up to see Lissa talking to someone on her phone, she had an unreadable expression. She then hung up.

"I got to go, thanks James." She said as she put on her jacket, quickly gathering all of her belongings. She kissed my cheek and closed the door on the way out. Well she was in a rush.

I was once again, back on my phone. Is it bad to have an addiction of being on your phone? Probably not because 90% of teens around the world are sucked into their screens.

Suddenly, my phone buzz and there was a notification from Kik. In my recommended users, there was a girl named 'Amanda Sterling', and she texted me with;

Amanda: Hello

Well, that's kind of creepy.

I decided to take a risk and respond back.

James: Hey
