Sometime in high school...
"Hey Elizabeth, come her for a moment," April called.
"What?" Elizabeth said, walking over.
"Can you try these on?" Arpil asked, shoving a pile of clothes in her arms.
"Just because we are the same size, doesn't mean i will be your personal model, we've talked about this," Elizabeth whined.
"This time it isn't for me, it's for you!" April told.
"What?" Elizabeth asked, half confused and half scared for what April had in store.
"For Prom. I want my Prom date to look nice," April commented.
Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "Just because we are going tgether, doesn't make it a date. That makes it sound like we're dating."
"We might as well be. We spend every waking moment together and we have even kissed," April pointed out.
"April!"
"Don't worry. I love you, honey, but not in that way. Besides, i'm not a lesbian," April said with the slightest hint of a country accent. Though barely present, it was there. "Now hurry up and try these on!"
"Fine. I will endure this torture for you. But you owe me!"
"Deal! And don't worry, there is nothing pink, purple, or read. Just blue, black, and green," April assured.
"You know me so well," Elizabeth said, taking the dresses and walking into the bathroom.
The first dress she came out in was dark green. It had two three finger length straps. The actual dress went down halfway between her ankle and her knee.
"I don't know. It's not...me!" Elizabeth noted.
"I agree. It barely looks right on me," April commented, walking around Elizabeth to view the outfit from all angles. "Next."
Elizabeth rolled her eyes and went back into the bathroom.
The next dress was sky blue, so blue that it stood out against Elizabeth's pale green skin, but it didn't clash.
It highlighted her features perfectly. There was only one problem.
"It looks amazing on you, yet it isn't really a Prom dress," April pointed out.
"I agree. Maybe i'll save it for another time," Elizabeth answered, already regretting her choice of words.
"You mean there will be another time for you to get dressed up! Eeek! I can't wait!"
"Next!" Elizabeth shouted and ran to the bathroom.
She came out again in a black dress. This one was long sleeved and had a little bit of a turtle kneck. It was definately a winter dress, not necessarily for being stuck in a room full of crowded teenagers. Other than that, it was pretty.
The rest of three dresses were the same way. None of them felt...right.
Elizabeth came out in the last dress.
It was knee length, black, and had blue sparkles all over it. It, like the blue one, made her features stand out, but in a different, more Elsaba way.
It really was beautiful.
"Yep. This is it," Elizabeth said and April quickly nodded her head in agreement.
"Definately. But it's missing something..." her voice trailed off in thought and her eyes stared into space. Suddenly, she jumped up and ran to her closet.
When she came back, she carried a pair of black boots.
"Here," she mumbled, thrusting the boots into her friend's arms. "You aren't Cinderella, you can do it yourself."
Elizabeth slowly put the boots on, and April stared intently, waiting to see how they would look.
Elizabeth stood up and showed off the new addition.
"What do you think?" Elizabeth asked.
"Me likey," April approved. "Spin."
Elizabeth obeyed, and the sparkles shimmered, some blue, some white depending on the angle.
"Wait." With a snap of April's fingers, a long, black, sparkly cape sprouted from Elizabeth's shoulders.
"Oh. My. Oz. You look amazing. Although, it probably would be best to not have the cape on for Prom," April said.
"Yeah," Elizabeth agreed.
"But seriously, you are so beautiful right now, you don't even know," April said.
Elizabeth blushed. "Thanks."
"Yep. Pink goes good with green."
The green girl's cheeks grew more pink.
