Chapter 7

"Charlie, it's nice to see you again," Vanessa grinned all too eagerly as Charlie arrived with the two officers.

"I can't really say much for you." Charlie said as a large male with ginger type hair walked over to Vanessa's side - the familiar face to Charlie had a look in his eyes that made Charlie feel like he wanted to kill Charlie or say the least, hurt him, "Rupert Arthur?"

"In the flesh, Barker," Rupert spat Charlie's last name like it was venom to his tongue; Rupert sarcastically said, "It's a pleasure to see you again."

"Boys, can we get on with business?" Vanessa asked with a flirty tone.

"Wait, I want to know what happened after you gave me that cream liquid - before you do anything else to me." Charlie demanded as he stepped away from the two officers, pushing them aside.

"Well, you helped me to...take care of some business." Vanessa smirked and she looked over at the two officers.

"Wait a minute, you made me murder someone?" Charlie shouted - the two officers not even bothering to restrain Charlie - as he stepped toward Vanessa with an irritated look upon his face, "You can't make people do your fucking dirty work; I'm a detective, I'm gonna be ruined."

Rupert stepped between Charlie and Vanessa, facing Charlie - with a devilish look upon his face -, "Then you'll know how we felt."

"Charlie, remember yesterday, when you said you hadn't done anything to me; you've done plenty - you interrupted me killing someone, so you basically caught me in the act." Vanessa giggled when she had told Charlie he had caught her in the act; as she drew closer and closer, Charlie could see she had a devilish look in her eyes too, "So, I lost about two years of my life, but that's not all - you broke my heart. I've seen you with that skinny bitch, Katie - the times you look after her bratty niece and when you go for walks, talking about anything at all. You didn't know how much you hurt me."  

"Vanessa, that was your fault - if you didn't commit the crime in the first place, you wouldn't have lost that much time in your life - . What the hell were you doing spying on me and Kate; Don't talk about her that way!" Charlie told Vanessa, who stood only two inches from Charlie's face; as soon as Charlie heard Rupert say Charlie's official forename - Charles -, he shot Rupert an annoyed glare.

"Charles Barker, I don't know how you can like just one girl? You have all these ladies wanting to do anything for you, falling at your feet - waiting to be chosen by you -, but you only pick one, who is your partner?" Rupert backed Charlie into sitting on the large chair; Vanessa took advantage of that as she took the syringes again - the liquid one and the empty one - and did the exact same as she did the previous night, Rupert pinning Charlie down with his rough hands, and Charlie refused to go down without a fight.

“Charlie, babe, I need you to kill my violent ex-boyfriend – David Lawson.” Vanessa told Charlie of who she wanted dead, where to find the guy and where to dump the body afterwards.
