"Hey guys, Deathra is gonna be coming over. So we should move from the bedroom to the living room. We will have so much space." I explain to both Eden and Jethro. They both look up from their phone and nod. I stand up and stroll my way into the living room. I need to clean this mess, half of it isn't even mine! While sitting on the couch, I begin to flip through multiple channels. News, no. Cooking, nah. Ooh, new movie? Romance? Okay!
I settled on a romance movie called A Star Is Born. I noticed that neither Jethro nor Eden have moved from their spots. They both continue to stare down at their phones while typing away. With a frown, I clear my throat which makes them both snap their head up to me.
"Are you guys coming or what?" I question.
"What?" Eden replies with a matching frown to mine. Jethro looks at Eden a bit confused as to what I was asking.
"You weren't paying attention to me were you?" I answer with a sigh. "I said, you guys should come out here so we have more room. Deathra is coming over so we are gonna need the space."
Eden nudges Jethro and tells him what I had just told her. They both stand up and walk out here slowly as if they just woke up. Eden sits on the soft carpet in front of me and Jethro sits next to me on the couch. I adjust myself so that we are cuddling. Jethro easily places his arm around my shoulders as I set my head on his chest. A smile slowly creeps across my face as my heart skips a beat from his touch.
"Can we not watch a stupid romance movie?" Eden groans and rolls her eyes as a couple on screen begin to make out.
"So, what should we watch then if you don't wanna watch this?" I ask both Jethro and Eden.
Jethro smirks and replies, "I'm fine with this if you are." He smiles at me with his beautiful grin.
"Two against one?" I reply back before looking down at Eden whose nose is scrunched. She's the type of person that never really enjoyed romance anything. Kissing, hugging, movies, you name it, she hates it.
Eden mumbles something under her breath.
About fifteen minutes later, I hear a knocking on the door. Then a cute soft voice. "Anyone there?". I nudge Eden so that she will get the door. She stands up to go answer it as I follow behind her. Jethro quickly changes the channel just to be on the safe side if my sister is at the door. We don't need to ruin her little mind this young.
Eden opens the door slowly and skeptically.
"Hey Deathra. Just have to make sure you are who you are." Eden smiles slightly.
"Go on, do your thing." Deathra says in an annoyed tone.
Eden leans in to my sister and takes a big sniff. She then straightens up and moves aside. Deathra looks at me and takes a step closer. Eden growls deeply. I look over at her confused.
"Eden. Everything okay?" Eden looks at me with a worried expression. Her eyes seem to become darker while rushing Deathra into the house.
Eden quietly shuts the door knowing any loud noise will disturb whatever is bothering her. "He's here." Eden turns to face everyone in the room before locking eyes with me. "Neveah, you need to hide now!" Her feet shuffle against the tile in the kitchen. You can hear her breathing picking up pace over her footsteps.
I grab my stuff and rush into my bedroom. I slide under the bed. Damn when this is over i really need to clean this. I thought to myself.
A loud crash comes from the kitchen with a few shrieks from the shock of the noise. Eden's growl is deep and angry. You can hear the protection in the growl knowing she's not going to let her guard down. The growl makes me flinch as it's never been my favorite thing to hear. My body automatically moves into a curled position and shivers in fear.
A man's voice booms through the growl, "Where is Neveah?" He questions while stomping hard around the kitchen or possibly even the living room. The voice doesn't sound like Knights. He must have shapeshifted into someone else but who exactly? I know I've see his face before.
Jethro jumps into conversation, "She's not here. You are not wanted here. Just leave!"
"Get out!" Eden's growling has become angrier and louder than before. The floor seems to softly shake as she speaks but sadly this doesn't scare Jethro. Nothing seems to scare him anymore, his power overthrows his fear.
"No! Now be a good lil' puppy and make me a sandwich." Knight says. I could hear the smirk on his face and can imagine the look of happiness. He knows and understands that his power can easily overtake Eden. He's testing her. That was Eden's absolute last straw. She growled deeply and transformed into her wolf form.
I hear a loud crashing sound. All I can see from the small crack under the bed, is the guy that Knight has shapeshifted into. He is wearing a black shirt with blue jeans. His hair is spiked, he has eyeliner on as well. Deathra is sitting on the couch looking down. All of a sudden there is another loud crash. Knight got pushed up against a wall, however no one touched him. Looking back at Deathra I see her arm raised in the direction of Knight. She is a demon so she has the power to harm people with her mind.
Deathra stands up and slowly walks over to him. She glances my way. Her eyes are as black as obsidian. She puts a smirk on her face, and looks back at Knight. I hear him start to gasp for air. I want to laugh but I know I need to be quiet. I covered my mouth so no sound could escape. Eden's wolf's eyes dart my way from the noise that came from my mouth with a very stern look plastered onto her face.
"O... Ok... Ay I will... Leave." Knight says in between gasps for air.
"Never come back! Got it?" Deathra raises her voice slightly. I'm guessing he agreed, as I heard something slide down a wall. Following that some intense gasping as he tries to catch his breath. Next thing I know the door slams and footsteps come to the doorway of the bed room.
"It's safe Neveah. You can come out." Jethro speaks loudly after three deathly silent minutes. Slowly I crawled out from my hiding spot still shaking from the anxiety that had quickly turned into a panic attack.
Eden, still in her wolf form, strolls up to me and rubs her face against my leg. I pet her head and tell her thank you. She has a soft shiny coat. The color is beautiful as well. She has pure black fur with gray paws. Her eyes are as blue as the ocean. She is just as beautiful as a wolf as she is human. Eden is very sensitive to others seeing her transform back to human, as it takes longer and looks extremely painful.
I close the door so only I can watch. I give her a pillow to bite down on so she doesn't howl in pain as she slowly shifts back to her human form. I have seen her do this hundreds of times, and each time I don't know how she does it. Agonizing pain twists on her face as her bones shift from animal to human, is painful to watch. Over the years she says it has gotten easier, but I don't know how she deals with the pain.
After she is done transitioning, Eden collapses on the bed in exhaustion. Transforming takes all of her energy, along with the adrenaline she had when Knight was here. Just as I expected, she passes out. I cover her with a warm blanket and step out of the room quietly, making sure not to wake her. Once out of the room, I go to where Jethro is standing and wrap my arms around him tightly. Deathra joins in on the hug.
"I hope he never comes back." Dethra uttered with a heavy sigh. With all the hell that he has put me through, these people created a safe haven. It took years to get over the abuse that I was shoved into. These people took me in and cared for me at my lowest point. They saved my life.
"I hope so too, but we all know he's not going to stop until he is caught." I responded, tightening our group hug. Jethro's thumb rubs the small of my back lovingly. His sign of affection shows that he is here to protect me from any danger that comes through this door.
"It's okay, baby girl," Jethro's voice rumbles through his chest against my head. "He's not here anymore. You're safe. For now." His words calm the anxiety that was slowly building deep in my chest. Hopefully Knight won't be coming back any time soon. Because of his calming words I loosened my grip.
