Mr. Seon gave the three a polite smile, quick bow and then excused himself so he could answer a call.

Surely, he would make it quick and be right back. But for the few moments that he would have to leave the table, the three got a chance to take a deep breath.

Well, either take a deep breath or just sigh in exhaustion.

Sungchan sighed.

He ran a hand through his hair, eyes following the man that was slowly disappearing behind a couple of tables before, eventually, he was out of sight.

Jie, who sat in between him and Shotaro, turned to the youngest. She smiled, amused at how messy his hair looked. She reached up to fix it.

Sungchan scrunched his nose. "He's so stuck up."

"And greedy," Shotaro added. He rolled his shoulders back, watched the door to check when Seon was going to come back.

"And rude," Sungchan noted. He looked at the girl. "I don't think he respects you very much."

She shrugged. "He will still have to do what I tell him to, so who cares?" She sounded incredibly disinterested. She looked at Shotaro. "You know what you need to ask him, right?"

"Yes," both boys answered quickly, just in time before Seon came back.

The man sat down opposite the three once again, offering them a polite smile.
"I am sorry for the interruption. Where were we?"

"The investment," Shotaro reminded him drily, yet politely. He motioned towards Jie.

Seon nodded quickly. He sat up straight, pressed his palms against his knees.
"Right. We would feel honoured to join forces with you, Miss Kim," he lied. "Supporting this matter is very important to us."

Jie took her time to answer, let her eyes run over the man slowly. She was mindful of the way she talked and the words she used. She was trying to be subtle about it.

"I thought you and your group have always had rather conservative views regarding the introduction of an independent attorney general," she wondered.

"Opinions can change." With bribery. "We would like to return the great support that you are offering us."

Jie hummed thoughtfully. She glimpsed at the boys briefly who quickly stepped in. Shotaro smiled kindly.

"We appreciate that but we are afraid that there is a problem."

Seon looked surprised. He shook his head in confusion. "What problem?"

"We aren't willing to put our safety on the line for this," Sungchan explained briefly. However, this was enough to make Seon understand what he meant. He quickly looked at Jie.

"You mean because of that incident at the dinner party the other day?" he recalled with a nervous laugh. "It was no big deal."

Jie smiled overly sweetly. "It's no big deal if you aren't the one getting injured, I assume."

"That's not what I meant--"

"We can take care of it ourselves," Sungchan quickly interrupted. "But we need to know whom we are dealing with."

But the man stayed silent, didn't reply whatsoever as if he barely even understood what they were trying to say.

Shotaro leaned forward, elbows pressed against the white table cloth. His sweet smile vanished, replaced by an icy glare. The contrast between his usual bubbly nature and his current expression was almost frightening.
