I wrote this entire idea with a song in mind. So maybe for the best experience listen to "Califronia Dreamin'" by The Mamas & The Papas. If you decide to play the song you'll know when to start just based on how I incorporate the song into the story.

Dark.
It's so dark.
He couldn't even see anything.
Yuto immediately sat up and curled in on himself.
He hated the dark.
He looked down into his lap the whole time, so when he felt like his eyes had adjusted, he looked up a little.
Trees. Everywhere.
He found himself right in the middle of a forest unknown to him.
Dark purple trees with their thick, just as dark, green leaves protruding out what seems to be miles and miles away from him. The trees were as tall as skyscrapers-scratch that-even taller than skyscrapers and they surrounded him.
Even though the air was warm like a summer night Yuto still had chills occasionally crawling down his spine. This was probably due to the eerie silence that happened to be deafening to him. It was strange to be in a forest (that's supposed to be filled with wildlife) and hear nothing. Not even crickets.
Yuto curled up again and laid on his side.
He was afraid of the dark.
He wasn't always nyctophobic. It came from that night at the lake that he's tried so desperately to forget about. And for the most part he has blocked it out of his mind, that along with the one who was with him that day.
He hadn't realized his eyes were watering until tears fell down the side of his face.
He turned on his back to look up only to be met with pitch dark blackness. Once again, unusual considering he was in a forest and could clearly see the sky. Why were there no stars?
It was getting hard to breathe.
Yuto clutched at his chest as his breaths got shorter and shorter. He turned to his side again, hoping that it would help. He cried harder, which caused his throat to close up making it more difficult to breath. He sat up and aggressively rubbed his eyes dry. He used his arm to hack into as his throat felt like it was clogged with tears and mucus. He doubled over in pain from his lack of breath. As he squeezed his eyes shut then the grass with both hands he forced himself to breath. At first the breaths were frantic through his nose. Snot was erupting from his nostrils. He felt disgusting. He began ripping the grass from under his fingers when he felt dizzy. He stopped breathing for a moment so he could try again. This time he breathed through his nose and out his mouth. In. Out. In. Out. In. Out. He focused on slowing the pace more and more.
When had finally calmed down, he collapsed on the ground from exhaustion.
His hand moved a little when he did so. That's when he felt something hit it. He jolted himself back up to see what it was.
A tissue box.
That wasn't there before. Or at least he's pretty sure it wasn't there before.
He grabbed a few tissues and cleaned himself up. He looked around for a trashcan, but found none. He tucked the tissues between the box they came from and the base of a tree. That was acceptable, he guessed.
