Iris
They say you remember someone by their voice, but I did because that was all I had and all I needed to know who it was.
"I'm afraid it won't, sweet creature."
His deep and husky voice, which traced along with the accent was bouncing along the sides of my head. Stuck in an endless loop of back and forth. I wasn't shocked at who but rather how and why. Why was he of all people behind me in a place only a few knew of, I was the only one with the map. How did he get here, how did he know exactly where to go.
It clicked in my mind. It took me what felt like an entirety to turn fully around and see him. My eyes wide, my throat felt like it was tight with a rope to the point where I can't breathe and my heart was ready to jump right out. As I turned to see him, I wasted no time. I looked back at Alexi as he shrivelled in my grasp. I let him go lightly and got to my feet.
"You," I said as I walked toward him.
"I think you have more pressing matters that don't include me," he said pointing to Alexi as he weakly looked up before nodding his head.
"Hey, Harry. I would come to give you a hug but I- ya.." he said and Harry nodded and gave him a reassuring smile.
"Alexi, are you sure your dying?"
"Hey, I never said I was dying. I just might be," he said grunting as he rolled over.
"What in hell is going on," I said shaking my head as Harry walked toward Alexi I grabbed his shoulder and he looked back up at me. "Oh no, you don't touch him. Why are you here? How are you here?"
"Darling, I suggest we help him before we indulge in a conversation," he said as he picked up my hand that lay firmly on his shoulder. He looked back at me before throwing my hand to the side.
I ran back over to Alexi and hurled him up into my embrace again.
"Okay, Alexi just stop moving your making it worse. Please stop moving," I said getting back to the pressing matters at hand. I slowly came to realize the water wasn't working. "Why did you say the water won't work Harry?"
"Because it won't, it will only work for you. You found it yes?" he said as he looked through his bag wrapped around his shoulder. He pulled out bandages and medical equipment.
"Yes but it healed my wo-,"
"It healed you and gave you food?" he said as he moved Alexis's clothes to further inspect his wound. "God your a dramatic one aren't you, his wounds aren't fatal. Not unless you get him out of here." he said as he wrapped thick white cotton around his torso.
"I still don't understand," I said as he finished wrapping him up and got up and swung Alexi's arm over his shoulder. "Hey, I'm talking to you."
"And I'm trying to save him, I suggest you shut your mouth." and I did, there was a tone in his voice that wasn't aggressive but was pleading. Pleading to get Alexi to help, I knew he was friends but I didn't think he would really care. "Alexi, listen there's a town not far from here, I know a young woman that lives in a blue house. She will help you but you have to ride this horse yourself. I can't go." he said as he peered behind him and traced his eyes up to me until they reached my own eyes. I adjusted my stance at the awkward silence. Harry pulled everything off his horse and left just the reins
"Alexi, take some of my money and please be safe. I can go with you if you need to, I can come back here."
"No-no you can't Iris, you have to stay, I will explain later," Harry blurted and stepped in front of me and his horse.
