Another Normal Day

Erwin Jordan came out of his maths class, tired and exhausted, he started walking towards his locker. A small  group of giggling girls was following him, admiring his well-built tough body. The perfect figure for a swimmer. He opened his locker and put his books back to their places and took his car keys. Beside him, his bestfriend Chase was caught up in some weird old textbook that looked as if it hasn't been opened for decades.

"What's that you're reading, Chase? I thought you hated book." said Erwin in his soothing voice.

"Just found this thing under Mr.Elliot's table, it's rubbish." and saying this words, Chase threw the book inside the nearest classroom.

Together they started walking towards the parking lot, talking about the tasteless food the school provides.

Just as they turned a corner however they ran into Treesa, Chase's long-term girlfriend and her bestfriend Elisa Green. The girls were talking about something the boys had no mood to learn about.

As the pair of friends faced each other, Treesa flung her arms around Chase and hugged him. Beside the couple, Elisa Green rolled her sky-blue eyes and stared awkwardly towards the wall. She didn't want to look at Erwin, as according to her, he hated her more than anything else on earth.

Treesa and Chase broke apart from each other. "I haven't seen you for so long, I missed you so much." said Treesa in her high pitched voice. "Me too sweetheart" said Chase and smiled.

"Haven't you two spent the whole lunch break together ?" asked Erwin though he knew how his friends would reply to that.

"We did  but it's been one and a half hours since the break, and that's a long time" snapped Treesa.

"And we know that you can't live without each other, you are telling me that since class 9" injected Elisa. Her sweet voice made Erwins day, his love for her was growing per minute.

"Well, we'll meet you guys soon. Don't start fighting again." said Treesa with a haunting look and Chase slipped his fingers between hers, holding her tightly as though she might blow away with the wind.

They both turned around, hand in hand and walked towards the gate.

Elisa turned her pretty face towards Erwin, both their hearts beating at a fast rhythm. Her short black hair falling into her shoulders.

But Elisa hated him, or so he thought and without thinking he said "I wish I could live my life without looking at your stupid face."

Elisa blushed. She loved that boy in front of her and she wanted him to know that, but he didn't, instead (according to Elisa) state swimmer Erwin Jordan hated his most crazy lover.

"Have you ever seen your face in the mirror ? Or are you afraid that the mirror will break with your ugliness ?" said Elisa, though in her brain, she regarded Erwin as the most beautiful boy on Earth.

"Shut up, miss wet paints." Erwin shot back.

"Go eat cow dung, mister chlorine." and saying that she slapped him on his cheek.

He didn't hesitate to slap back, finally that's something he did quite often.

Elisa stepped on his feet and turned around avoiding those brown eyes of Erwin's and sped from the corridor towards the parking lot. Erwin followed her, because he wanted to look at her even more, he wanted to talk to her again. He wished he could persuade her to go to the prom with him.

"Gotta return to the place where you belong ? PLANET LOOSER ?" shouted Erwin.

"Haven't you got any other thing to do than annoy me ? I hate you and I don't want you to ruin my day." said the blue eyed girl with a smirk.

"Oh, as if you've got things to do. Stupid stinking pair of sock." He roared with duplicate laughter.

Elisa didn't reply but moved quickly towards the parking lot. She wanted to return home and complete her new painting while her parents were away.

Just as Elisa reached her car, a tall black boy stood in front of her. Elisa knew what was coming, it was common knowledge that she was the most popular and pretty girl in school. And as the prom was approaching, it was  hard to keep track of how many guys asked her to the prom with them.

Erwin was used to this, he was quite sure that Elisa would reject him, she already did that with a lot of boys. But he didn't want to look at another boy able to confess his feelings for someone whom he loved. So he went towards his car, opened the door and drove home. He saw the boy kneeling down in front of his love and he went straight home. There was something about her than made him fall for her every time she expressed her utmost battered towards him.

After a couple of bitter-sweet minutes, Elisa drove her yellow car and parked it in front of the her house that was exactly opposite Erwin's. She climbed the stairs and laid flat on her back, 'asked to the prom by two boys in one day', she thought to herself and wished that she didn't hurt their feelings. She walked towards her cupboard and withdrew her drawing book. Most of her drawings were abstract acrylic paintings. She only drew portraits of one person, the boy who lived opposite her. She wanted new ideas for her paintings, and sho she opened her phone for ideas. And just as she turned on the data in her phone, numerous messages popped up. One message caught her eye the most, it was from Treesa. It read-

I am having a small get-together as my parents will be out of station for the weekend. I have taken their permission for the party. It will be only you, me, Chase and Erwin. Make sure you come on time.
7 pm, my house, Saturday. Don't forget 😉

The same thing was sent to Erwin, with a little change. He read the letter as he returned from his swimming lesson after sunset. As he reached his room, he looked out of the window. Surely the girl he dreams of every night was busy in painting like always. He closed the curtains but kept a small gap, so as to look into Elisa's room. She looked prettier than ever as her short dark hair was tied back and her face was flushed with concentration. Her hair was messy and so were he hands which were splattered with bits of paint and a little amount of paint was covering her face. She raised her head, it seemed like her someone was calling her from downstairs. She looked out of the window and realised that Erwin was looking at her. She looked disturbed. She then put up her middle finger made sure that Erwin saw it before drawing the curtains. She didn't want to do that, but she needed Erwin to believe that she hated him. 'How would he feel when he realised that the girl who he thought hated him was actually in love with him ?' she thought to herself.

"Two more minutes mommy" she shouted and looked down at her piece of art. It looked as marvelous as ever. And then, with a last sweeping look towards it, she went down for dinner. It was another typical day for her, she went to school, was stalked by someone she didn't know, she fought with Erwin and showed her fake hatred for him and then did her daily chore of painting.

In the house opposite, as the boy named Erwin went down for supper, he saw that the five-lettered name he had tattooed on his hand with marker was fading away. After eating the food, be rewrote Elisa's name on his wrist and draw a heart around it. It was another normal, boring day for him. He wished that someday, he would be able to get his courage and speak the truth to Elisa and he imagined her reaction full of shock and hatered.
