Family Comes First (Kyalin)

This is a AU with Kyalin. Lin: 29. Kya: 31. Korra: 11 months. Kuvira: 7. There's no bending at all.

Although she hated leaving her kids and her wife, she needed to go on this business trip. She had to go before Korra woke up from her nap or she would never get to leave. She packed up the last of her suits and toiletries. Lin stood at the door with Kuvira in her arms.

Kya: "I'll be back as soon as I can." Lin nodded and kissed her wife softly. "Love you guys."

Lin: "Love you too babe. Be safe okay?"

Kuv: "Love you mommy!!" Kya kissed the child's head and went to the uber that was waiting for her. The other two went back inside and watched tv until Korra woke up from her nap.

As the week went on, Korra started noticing the absence of her mom and became more cranky not to mention the fever she had. Kuvira was a smart kid and a book nerd so she always kept busy with books from Lin's study.

Lin: "It's okay Korra. Mommy will be back soon I promise." The infant kept crying until she soon started hiccupping. "She'll be here soon baby. It's okay.." Lin wiped her tears gently and cradled Korra's head. Lin put Nyquil in Korra's baby bottle and soon the child was asleep. She walked both of them to Kuvira's room where she was reading a college level book. "Hey.."

Kuv: "Hi mama."

Lin: "What do you want for dinner?" She whispered.

Kuv: "Why are you whispering? And pizza!"

Lin: "I finally got your sister to calm down and take her nap. And we had pizza yesterday."

Kuv: "Pasta?" The mother nodded and went to put the sleeping child in her crib. Lin made sure her blanket, bottle, and the baby monitor was close by.

*With Kya*

"Well that wraps up this meeting. Tomorrow we will wrap up the final touches on this project then you guys can go home to your families." A older man said as he stood up. He shook hands with everyone then noticed Kya walking out. "Ms. Beifong can we talk for a moment?"

Kya: "It's Mrs. but yes Mr. Zhao?"

Zhao: "Married?"

Kya: "Yes sir."

Zhao: "Lucky man."

Kya: "Actually a woman." The man raised a brow at this but shook it off quickly. Kya knew this man was trouble so she kept her answers short and simple. "Was there something you needed?" He walked closer to her.

Zhao: "Actually yes. I was wondering if you would like to go out some time. Maybe for drinks? My place afterwards?"

Kya: "I'm married with two kids. I'd rather not. Thank you for the offer though." She smiled gently and turned to leave, briefcase in hand. The older man frowned and grabbed her hand before she could. "Excuse me..."

Zhao: "You'll come running to me soon. You need a strong man in your life." She snatched her hand away and kneed him in the balls. "You bitch!"

Kya: "I have everything and everyone I need in my life already. I don't need a man and I never will. Get over yourself." He was red in the face and the waist.

Zhao: "Do you not understand how painful getting kicked in the crotch feels?!" Kya chuckled and started walking to the door.

Kya: "Oh I do. Have a nice day Mr. Zhao. Hope you know the board of directors and your boss will hear about this incident." She walked out and slammed the door.
