It has been three weeks since I got this surrogate woman for my child. I slept with her almost every night, which caused my relationship with my wife to get colder. The nurse announced, coming out of the room where Yana was doing her check-up. We've been here for almost an hour now for her pregnancy checkup and waiting for the result.
Mum and I got up and entered the room where Yana was, and saw her already sitting in front of her OB-GYN. Mom sat beside Yana and I sat next to Mom. I can see Mum smiling already, even though the doctor didn't say anything yet.
"So doctor, please tell us the result. I can't wait to be a grandmother now."
Mum said excitedly, which caused us to laugh at her.
"Yes, yes, Madam, you will become a grandmother soon. Yana is 2 weeks pregnant now, so the answer is yes."
The doctor announced, which made me shocked, but there's something I felt inside that I can't explain. Excitement, happiness, whatever it is, hearing that I am soon to be a father makes me want to cry.
I've been dying for this too, like mum.
After the check up, I dropped mum and Yana off at the nearest mall. They wanted to buy stuff for the baby, so I grabbed the chance to go home and tell my wife the good news. I'm so excited, and I hope Y/N is too.
When I reached home, silence was all I heard. Since this surrogate issue came between us, Y/N became a bit cold and stopped coming out of the house to greet me every time she heard the horn of my car signaling that I'd arrived. Since the first day of me sleeping with Yana, Y/N has slept in the guest room. We became a mess, but I hope this good news will fix everything between us.
I enter the house to see one of our maids coming towards me. I hand her my briefcase and ask where my wife is. She told me that Y/N is eating her lunch in the kitchen, but why is she eating there? She should be in the dining room. I walked straight to the kitchen after I thanked the maid and asked her to bring my things to my room. My eyes couldn't believe what I was seeing when I saw my wife eating alone. Then I came to realize that not only had I not slept with her for three weeks, but I also hadn't shared any meals with her anymore.
Guilt is now taking over me. I forgot my wife. I forgot that I have a wife who is waiting for me.
"Baby, let's eat together."
I walked near her and took the seat beside her. But the moment my butt touched the leather chair, she stood up.
"I'm done. Please enjoy your meal."
She said this before turning away from me and carrying her plate to the sink. She was about to exit the kitchen when I called for her, but in a way that I immediately regretted.
"What's wrong with you, Y/N? I can't understand your actions. You don't talk to me, you don't look at me, you're always avoiding me. Why don't you try to understand that I'm doing this for my mum? I want her to be happy and fulfill her wish to see her grandchildren, which you can't give. If you only see how happy she is when we finally get the result that she will become a grandmother soon, maybe you won't be acting like this."
I told her all of this, but her back was still facing me, and when she turned to face me, that's when I regretted everything I said. I want to take it all back if possible.
Tears were already all over her face, but Y/N being Y/N, she smiled sadly and congratulated me.
"Congratulations for becoming a father soon."
She said this calmly, then slowly walked out of the kitchen.
That is the real Y/N. I fell in love with the calm and humble woman.
