The ride down the elevator went relatively fast by how pissed I was at my father. I exited the elevator, making a Beeline for the front desk. His navy suit came into view and I rolled my eyes.

"Sohyun," he said softly as I came into view.

"Dad, why are you here?" I asked when I was closer to him. He tried to read my emotions but I kept a resting bitch face.

"Sohyun, I came to take you home," he said as he reached out for my hands. I allowed him to hold my hands as he tried to persuade me.

"Dad, I'm busy right now," I explained.

"Sohyun being a trainee isn't being busy. We talked about this in the morning," he said. His soft tone was slowly changing and I rolled my eyes.

"We did talk about this. I said that this was my dream and that I would do it no matter what," I replied.

"Sohyun, you can't be serious? What good would being here for 5 years doing absolutely nothing matter?" he scoffed. His grip on my hands tightened and I attempted to pull my hands away. He yanked them back and looked me in the eyes.

"Yang Sohyun. You are going to work at the company from now on with no funny business about being some scum trainee," he sternly said as he pulled me away. I got one hand free and I tried to get him to let go of my other one, but he wasn't budging. I felt a hand grab my free one and pull me back. My dad looked appalled at someone stopping us. We turned to look at who had grabbed my hand and it was Jungkook.

"Sir, I really don't think you should take her against her wishes," Jungkook said politely. His words and his gaze were complete opposites.

"I don't think you should be telling me what I can or cannot do with my daughter," my dad replied.

"Mr. Yang, with all due respect, Sohyun is 19 so she can make her own decisions," Jungkook replied. My dad tightened his grip on my wrist and I flinched. Jungkook's eyes flickered down at me for a second before he sighed.

"Jung, whatever the hell your name is, can you let go of my daughter's hand?" he said. He was exasperated at the thought of not being able to drag Sohyun out with no worries. I winced as I tried to twist my hand out of my dad's grip. My dad tried to pull me away again but Jungkook grabbed his grasp.

"Sir I think you should let go," Jungkook said. I saw my dad's expression change and I looked at my wrist. Jungkook had pried my dad's hand off of me and thrown it away. Jungkook moved me to stand behind him and I stood there holding my wrist.

"Sohyun and I will talk about her decisions when she leaves," my dad said as he turned around and left the building. I closed my eyes as I heard the building door being thrown open and angry stomps echo outside. I hadn't realized it but I was holding onto Jungkook's shirt. He turned around and put an arm around me.

"Back to how you were," he said as he led me to the elevator. I opened my eyes and stared into the abyss.

My dad has never hurt me. He wouldn't hurt me right?

'dad tightened his grip on my wrist and I flinched'

He hurt me... Jungkook saved me.

Jungkook had decided to take Sohyun to his studio so that she could be alone. He dropped his arm from her shoulder and gently took her by her hand.

I looked up at Jungkook when he held my hand and led me out of the elevator. He gave me a small smile and I gave one back. His back profile mesmerized me as he pulled me into another room.

Comfort.

Jungkook was like comfort to me. He let go of my hand and I frowned, missing his warmth.

"This is my studio!" he said with wide arms. I looked around and saw a couch on the side. His desk had two monitors and a lot of speakers. I spotted a mini fridge in there as well.

"Thank you," I said quietly as I held my head down.

Jungkook turned back to look at me, dropping his arms. He sat down in his desk chair and rolled up to me. I looked at him and he gave me that comforting smile again.

"I'm your mentor. It's my responsibility to take care of you. Also it's not like I'm a bad person okay?" he laughed. I grinned before looking somewhere else. He took my hands in his. I spun my head back to him.

"Ay don't give me a sappy mentor story okay. I know that you're perfect," I joked. His eyes fell a little but he stuck with his smile.

"Perfection is not reality. We all have hardships that we endured to get to where we are today. I went through dozens of auditions before settling on this one. My member's hard work have brought us to where we are today," he said. I nodded. "Take a seat," he said as he gestured towards the couch. I sat down on the couch and he waddled in the chair to be in front of me.

"My hardship is just starting," I told him. He nodded and leaned back in the chair.

"Many idols have started like this as well. Did Jimin hyung have to give up contemporary dance to be here? Did Tae hyung have to leave his family? Yoongi hyung's parents didn't even approve of him rapping on the low," Jungkook explained. "The point is... no one said achieving your dreams had to be a straight road. It has bumps and holes and wrong turns, but all of these missteps are what make your life not so boring," he smiled again.

"So what's your full story?" I asked him. He rubbed the back of his neck before contemplating.

"Namjoon hyung was pretty cool," he chuckled and showed his bunny teeth.
