TW: Mentions of Child abuse
Context for people who do not know about this: James Charles has been accused and confessed to grooming 15 and 16 year olds online.
Mr. Hansen was already waiting for them when they came downstairs. He sat on a wooden footstool by the door. A leather strap spanned from underneath his foot to his hand, and he was rhythmically dragging a short blade over it.
»So, who exactly are we going for?« Annus asked, following the sword with his eyes.
»A bard that came here not to long ago. Got a little to comfortable with a kid, if ya know what I mean. Been on the run ever since, but now somebody spotted him in a barn just outside town.«
The two men looked at each other. »We'll do as much as we can to help.«
Hansen sheathed his sword and got up, nodding his head for them to follow him.The barn was maybe a fifteen minute walk away from the town. It was barely noticeable as such. The doors were gone, the roof partially collapsed.
Hansen went in first. He was as quiet as a cat, taking each step in slow motion. The barn seemed empty, safe for a few rusted tools and old hay. The headhunter pointed upstairs, to the second floor. There were two ladders leading upwards to the left and the right; the third on on the opposite end had collapsed under it's own weight. They split up. Unus took the left, Annus the right ladder. Hansen stayed on the ground, one hand on the hilt of his blade.
The second he managed to peek over the floor, a blur flew past him. The ladder broke, and Unus felt the world tilt below him. He jumped off to the side, rolling off on the stubby hay.The blur was a man. He had a small dagger in one hand, but didn't seem to have any intention to fight. He was facing Hansen. Unus saw his change to send him to the ground with a blast of energy. Nothing happened. Of course nothing happened. They weren't in the machine anymore.
The man rolled to the side, evading the swing of Hansens sword. He leapt up from the roll, and sprinted towards the exit.He saw Annus fly through the air. With reckless abandon, he jumped from the top floor, landing right on top of Charles and pinning him down. They hurried over, helping him to secure the struggling man.
Hansen caught a glimpse of a leather sack sliding out of Charles' sleeve and yelled for the others to get back.
