Family Reunion: Clarissa McKellan

Chapter 1 Part 1

Clarissa pov:

We have arrived in Columbus, Georgia and I always like coming here, since when I was little I would sometimes spend my summers here with my grandparents and the rest of the family. I am Clarissa Mckellan and I'm the oldest child of Moses and Coco Mckellan and the Older sister of my 4 siblings Jade, Shaka, Mazzi and Amee (A/n: sorry if I got the names wrong). My dad is an NFL player for the Seattle Seahawks but grew up here in Columbus and my mom is a normal Trophy wife, My siblings are all different, Jade is your typical teenage girl who just wants to hang out with her friends and party, Shaka is a normal boy who just sits around and plays video games, Mazzi also plays games but is more interactive with other hobbies like baking and playing his trumpet and last we have little Amee who surprise her age is a person who concerned with the world's problems. As we got to Grandpa and Mdear's house, Shaka was asking about the different plants and trees " Hey dad, what's that tree?" Shaka asked " that's a weeping Willow Shaka " Dad said, we were all happy to be here "poor tree, even you're sad to stuck here in the boonies of Columbus, Georgia" Jade said,well all almost all of us, Jade wanted to stay home just because some of her friends are going to party but we dragged her here to spend time with the family "I can smell Mdear cooking from the airport" Dad says "smells delicious" I say "smells like 20 extra pounds" Mom says " you don't have to eat it" dad says " Try and stop me" Mom says, we climb the steps as Jade started complaining again "it's hot here, Africa hot" Jade says complaining about the heat"you're a drama queen" I say "I know I have been doing a good job covering but I don't want to be here" Jade complains again, all she does is complaint about being here "we know" We say to her, just then Grandpa and M'dear come out to greet us " My baby is home" M'dear says running past everyone to hug dad well the other four held out for a hug " I missed you Mdear" dad says. Grandma Amelia aka Mdear and Grandpa Jebadiah Mckellan, my favourite grandparents, Grandpa is a pastor for the church and Mdear is the high sister for the church, Mdear is also an awesome cook, wherever I visit they take me to Church and teach me everything about the Bible, Jesus and God and I love eating Mdear food she even taught how to cook and some of her recipes. " Oh, Coco it's so good to see you and the kids, you're getting so big" she says hugging mom and Jade "oh my little lamb, it's always good to see you" Mdear says hugging me "Mdear I'm so little anymore" I say "to me you will always be my little lamb" Mdear says, and after everyone else was greeted and hugged we went inside to settle down before we eat.

After putting our bags in our rooms and while everyone was getting rest before eating I decided to go and see if Mdear needs help, " Hey Mdear, need any help?"I say walking into the kitchen"Oh baby, everything is made I just need help setting the table" Mdear says "you got it" I say and got the knives, forks, spoons, plates and cups and set the table " I always liked doing this every day whenever I visited, you, me and grandpa sitting here, eating and talking about our day " I say finish setting up the table " me too baby, you were sweet always wanting to help cook and set up, sometimes I wished it could have been like that every day" Mdear says bringing food to the table and after all the food was on the table we called everyone to come and eat. After everyone was at the table, we all dished up some food and we started eating. "Mmm, Mdear you put your foot in this chicken" Dad says "Yuck" Amee says dropping her chicken, thinking there was an actual foot in the chicken and I laughed at this "Its an expression that the food is really good, Mdear is the best cook in the family" Mom says "Thank you Coco, but my sister Maybelle would disagree" Mdear says "now Millie, who has more Reunion baking wins, you or Maybelle?" Grandpa asks "Oh Jeb, no one keeps track of that stuff, but if they did it would be me" Mdear says, just then Uncle Daniel came into the house and I immediately hide some of the food while my siblings went to hug him. Uncle Daniel, the fun Uncle, but his downside are that he borrows money from everyone and doesn't pay it back, he is always in between jobs and right now he is going to do another downside, After hugging the others he comes to the table and starts taking the food and putting it in his Lunchbox and talking about his date, once he's done he leaves with the food and dads plate and the others were shocked of how he took all the cornbread and how fast he was "But not fast enough" I said, bring out another bowl of cornbread that I hid, they cheered and gave fist pumps then Mdear came with Banana pudding" who wants Banana pudding?" Mdear asks in a whisper and after Shaka praising Mdear and we all tease Jade for being a Lighter shade than us and we all laughed.

After we finished I stayed to help Mdear clean up while others left to go do their own thing "That was a great meal Mdear" I say putting the last of the dishes in the dishwasher "thank you baby, it's always nice to cook big meals" Mdear says "well Im going to go get ready for church" I say going to the room I am staying in to change. After a few seconds, I heard a crash from the parlour, I went there following Grandpa and Mdear in it and getting the other kids to stopping whatever they were doing "Mdear we are so sorry" "Don't worry, we will clean everything up, kids clean everything up" My parents say and my siblings started cleaning the mess they made "ain't you going to punish them?" Grandpa asks "Oh Absolutely," Mom says "what you think is an appropriate punishment?" Mom asks "Proverbs 13:24 'spare the rod and spoil the child'" Grandpa says thinking mom was asking him "oh no, I was the kids, as conscious parents, we think thats it is more meaningful if kids chose their own punishments" Mom says"what? Who in charge here?" Mdear asks and every one of my family puts up their hand, to me it was a bad system and I complained about it, so our parents made us vote, to choose on this system or give the punishment themselves and I was outvoted by my siblings 4-1 "Mama, we encourage the kids to be in charge of their own destinies, we are new school parents" dad says "and the prisons are filled with new school kids who need their butts whipped" Mdear says "Millie it's none of our business, remember church starts at 8:00 am" Grandpa says and we were about to leave the room "we don't go to church, dad says we belong to bedside Baptists" Mazzie says and my grandparents turn around because I know that is not something to say in this household, I didn't stay to hear the rest of that and left to get ready for church.
