Dark Soul

The Quest~part 2

Now i needed two more orbs... but where.

Earth and fire? They could be ANYWHERE.

I forced myself to my feet away from the grass cushioned ground and sighed in frustration when I remembered I saw an orb in that tree earlier. It must be earth. I mean. It IS a tree afterall.

Retracing my steps, looking for my faint footsteps in the green ground, I found myself walking back to the right tree. It was just ahead, not too far away when a long cold bone chilling shreik filled the air and rippled straight through me and echoed around the mountains. I dropped to the ground in fright covering my head in my hands, my ears ringing and my heart pounding wildly. I leant against the nearest tree, and sat there in silence. The birds stopped singing and all hid for cover. A wierd cold vibe smothered the landscape and instead of it being alive and full of life, it looked deserted and abandoned. I felt so alone.

Everything was eerily quiet for a few minutes, then a noise was heard in the mountain tops It sounded barely like a strong breeze, then it grew. It started to sound like a sheet flapping in the wind. It started to get louder and louder, slowly heading in my direction. Only when it could be clearly heard I realised it was the flapping of wings, and it was then when I saw a dark shadow inbetween the mountains. It moved slidely side to side, growing slowly, it glowed a faint red... I sat there and just watched it.

 what was it? Was it that woman? Is she playing a trick on me?

I couldn't help but be interested in it. But as it grew, realisation dawned on me.

Another shriek, louder this time, shook the ground and all the trees making the leaves drop like confetti.

It was a dragon, and it looked like it could sense fear as it headed purely towards me.

It was a hovering flame, ever scale alive with fire. It was as large as a small bus but it looked like it weighed that of a large boat. Heavily plated with ruby red diamonds as scales that looked impossible to shatter.  

I hid behind the tree hoping it would pass over or swerve in a different direction but everytime I glanced it was edging closer and closer until it swooped on the ground and landed horribly close to me. Its heavy footsteps made dry thudding noises on the ground creeping ever closer. 

It got so close so i decided action had to be taken or i'll be dragon food before i know it. I took a quick deep breath and without thinking I ran. I ran as fast as I could, dodging past trees and jumping over roots and leaves. I heard a roar of displeasure from the dragon then crashing footsteps. I quickly glanced to see the dragon chase me, hunger flared in its eyes. Then it darted for me. I forced my whole body flat on the ground feeling the force of the dragons leap soar over me and quickly forced myself up as quickly as i could to run breathlessly in the other direction. Watching the dragon crash into a tree. All the branches snapped and the leaves dropped off the tree and rained on the beast which paused for a second in confusion and shock giving me time to run off. Then it turned to target me again. Which gave me a good idea. 

I was already heading in the direction of the tree with the orb in it when i heard the dragon roar again and heavy footsteps. I was meters away from the tree when I ducked down just in time and felt the dragon whistle straight over my head. It crashed into the tree sending the leaves flying again, along with the orb. The sudden impact put the dragon into a daze which gave me time to run in and fetch the orb before sprinting off with the last of my breath. I was just about to get away when I felt something clutch my leg sending a spazm of pain up my leg and a scream poured out of my lips. The momentum i was going at sent the orb flying forward. Whatever had grabbed my leg wasn't letting go and the orb was just out of reach.

My leg felt wet and stung in waves of painful spazzums. Whatever had my leg was gripping tighter. I started being dragged backwards, Feeling the rough dirt cut and scratch at my skin and it clung to my clothes making green and brown patterns on my trousers and shirt. I was spun around against my will by a giant scaley hand and i sat there facing into the eyes of the dragon.
