Laura's Misfortunes

Laura sat in her Zoom class. She muted her mike and turned off her camera while laying back. She started to drift off to sleep.

She woke up to find she had been removed from the meeting. She awkwardly looked around the room avoiding the computer screen before her phone started ringing and she saw it was Ray.

She picked up "Laura?" "Yes??" "...um...the school called me..." "about?" "...you were sleeping..?" "...maybe I was..." "maybe...?" "Yup..." Laura hung up before anything else could be said.

'Oh! I shouldn't have slept today-I HAD A TEST!!!!' Laura sighed sitting up to go into Oceans room.

She saw Ocean sitting at her desk with the computer, taking notes as the whole class read an article together. Laura sneaked up behind her. "Your camera on?" "No. But what if it was? You're standing right behind me; they would've seen you" "it's fine, it's fine" "why aren't you in school?" "Got kicked out the Zoom call"

"HOW?!" "Was sleeping...I was tired..." "alright, go away. I have to take these notes and I don't plan on failing or getting kicked out like you" "Hey!" "Bye" "you want something to eat? I'm about to go make food downstairs" "I mean...I AM hungry...and lunch IS in 2 HOURS...YES, BRING ME A SANDWICH" Laura put up a thumb leaving.

First, she had to join her next class though. She unmuted. "Good morning, Lisa" "LAURA! I-*sigh*...Good morning...but please...stop calling me that..." "I'm also still waiting for that cookie I asked for the beginning of the year" "what are you talking about?" "REMEMBER THAT COOKIE YOU OFFERED US WHEN WE CAME BACK FROM WINTER BREAK?? AROUND LUNCH TIME-EVERYDAY, YOU ASK WHO WANTS TO BUY A COOKIE FROM THE CAFETERIA AND I RAISE MY HAND YET I STILL HAVEN'T GOT IT-"

"LAURA, THAT'S FOR THE IN PERSON STUDENTS! YOU ARE REMOTE-" "SO I'M NOT AS SPECIAL AS THEM" "I NEVER SAID THAT-" "LISAAAA! YOU ARE SO RUDE!!! I JUST WANTED MY COOKIE-NEVERMIND..FORGET THE COOKIE. I'M DONE" Laura shut the laptop. She walked to the kitchen grabbing the bread. She put mayo on it and added cheese with turkey and ham before slapping the other slice of bread on.

She put it on a plate and brought it to Oceans bedroom. She opened the door and was about to hand it to her but Ocean said her camera was on. "Hurry up and turn it off then!" "Ok, ok.." Ocean went to turn it off but instead turned the mike on. "Hurry up" "Laura..." "Take your sandwich! I have to rejoin my class!!!" "Laura..." "DID YOU TURN IT OFF?! COME ON! HURRY-FASTER!!! MY ARMS ARE TIRED!!!" "LAURA MY MIC AND CAMERA IS ON"

Laura dropped to plate and dashed out the room, laughing. They all watched as Ocean exited the meeting.

Ocean was getting ready to present her slideshow when Laura woke up.

"AHHH! CRAMP! MY LEG-IT HURTS!!!!! OWOWOWOWOWWWW!! OWWWW! MY LEG IS CRAMPING-Oh, good morning, Ocean!" Oceans eyes widened as Laura started getting off the bed. Ocean let her sleep in her room last night and now she had deeply regretted it.

"I'm sorry everyone-that's my siste-" "Ocean, let's go get breakfast! I'm hungry!" "Laura! Shh! I'm in class!" "Just skip like me! You're not even paying attention nor participating!! You were just watching Stranger Things on Netflix-COME ON! LET'S JUST GO COOK SOME WAFFLES!" The whole class gasped as Ocean panicked. "I-I! I-" "AFTER THAT, WE COULD PROBABLY GO TO THE MALL AND SHOP! BUY NEW CLOTHES AND SHOES! GET OUR NAILS DONE-GET OUR EARS PIERCED AND LUNCH COULD BE SOME CHICK-FIL-A--"
