Chapter 17

I couldn't go to school Monday and Tuesday because I was too weak. Lizzie wanted to stay and take care of me but I wouldn't let her. She only agreed to go to school when Becky said she'd stay with me. I spent the days sleeping and didn't wake up until after Lizzie had finished school. She came into my room on Tuesday and woke me up telling me that it was 5 p.m. and to get up and get dressed. Becky went home after that and by the time I managed to shower and get dressed it was almost 6.

We decided to just go get dinner at the best pizzeria in town. I wasn't really hungry but I didn't want her to worry so I had a slice. We're now in my car, her driving us back to my house. I hate not being able to do anything. I put my head on the window and began thinking.

"Hey Liz."

"Yeah?"

"I love you"

"I know baby. I love you too." I took her hand in mine and rubbed my thumb along the back of her hand. The rest of the ride was a comfortable silence. When we got back to the house we decided to watch Finding Nemo, because it was one of her favorites, then went to sleep.

When I woke up Lizzie was gone and Becky was trying to clean my room as quietly as she could.

"Where's Lizzie?"

"School dumbass. It's Wednesday."

"Oh. What are you doing?"

"Cleaning. This room looks like a damn barn." I closed my eyes and went back to sleep.

I woke up at around 4:30 p.m. the next day with a massive headache. I took a couple Advil's, like I always do and went to the kitchen to eat. I was feeling better, except for the headache, and I think I can go to school tomorrow (today is Thursday). I ate and showered and put on some black skinny jeans, a Mayday Parade t-shirt and black converse high-tops. I grabbed my keys and was about to leave when I heard noise in the living room. Becky has work and probably left by now and my sisters both have plans after school pretty much every day. I went into the living room to find Lizzie snuggled into the couch, watching some cartoon.

"Hey Liz. What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be doing your homework?"

"You're up. I wanted to check up on you and... Wait. Where are you going?"

"I was going to go pick you up and take you out somewhere, but since you're here, go get dressed okay? I'm sorry I've been a mess this last week. I'll make it up to you. I promise"

"It wasn't your fault but I'm glad you're feeling better." she got off the couch and gave me a kiss on the cheek, leaving my entire body tingling and my cheek burning, and went into my room.

After a long day of doing whatever we were in the mood for, from eating to shopping to paint ball, we went back to my house. When I parked my car I felt my phone vibrate.

C: Just got a random text from mom. They're in town. They just landed. Said they'd be home in less than an hour. Me and Lily are on the way back. If I were you I'd do the same. They said it was something important.

"Fuck"

"What?"

"My parents are back. I should take you home."

"Are you serious? They just left..."

"They said it was something important or something."

"Tina is actually in the neighborhood. She can come pick me up. You should be here when they come."

"Okay. I love you and I'll call you later okay?" she nodded and I kissed her softly. We just kissed for a few minutes until I heard a car horn.

"Ugh. Fucking Tina ruins everything" I rolled my eyes at the idiot smirking in the yellow 2012 Dodge Challenger. We got out of the car and I took Lizzie to Tina's car, not forgetting to flip Tina off. After they drove away I went into the house and prepared for my parents' arrival.
