Mere hours later, in Madam Pomfrey's hospital wing, a very sick Fred slapped George in the face. Odette stifled in a laugh, because she knew at any second she could be struck, too.
"And don't you think you're off the hook for even a second." Fred pointed his finger at her.
"But I love you?" She said slowly, this time unable to hold her laughter inside.
"I am sick!"
"Oh, please. You've got a cold, you're not on your deathbed."
"I really dislike you right now."
"But I love you?" Odette said again.
George had gone over to Lee's side. where Odette was too afraid to set foot in. "Madam Pomfrey Odette's in here!" Fred said as she sat on his bed.
"And Madam Pomfrey isn't." Odette smiled, picking up a bowl of hot soup. "Now open up." She said carrying a spoonfull of soup.
"No."
"Fred. You have to eat something before you take your medications!"
"Says the one who brought me to this state."
"It was George who levitated you, I had Lee."
"As if that makes it any better."
"And it's not like Lee's not gonna kill me, that's why Georgie's with him and I'm here with you."
"That literally makes no difference."
"Just stop talking and eat your food." She said.
"Can I just not have the soup?"
"No, no you can't. I need you to be healthy for my birthday."
"Your birthday's next week, I'll be all right until then."
"Yeah but you still have to take your medicine. Now shut the fuck up and start eating."
"Fine." He frowned as he took a sip of the soup.
"I've also brought you this." Odette pulled out the butterbeer she'd bought for him as their way of apology only the two of them shared.
"Wait." He said with a mouthfull of bread in his mouth. "I just realized you 'urn fif 'een, yet you're in fourth year."
"First off, swallow your food before you speak, that's disgusting. Second, I guess I just got my Hogwarts letter a bit late, and I'm quite grateful of that, nevertheless, you're lucky I'm the same year as you."
"How come?"
"Who would help with all your bloody homework anyway?"
"Angelina."
"Oh?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Wait no- I meant- fuck-"
"I mean you guys wouldn't even be friends if it wasn't for me."
"We would!"
"She hated you."
"She what?"
"Yeah, buddy, she hated your guts." Odette shrugged. "When we first started, remember? You had tried to prank me but had made all of her teeth fall off instead? They called her Meemaw for like three months even after her teeth grew back."
"Right." Fred said. Odette got up and Fred grabbed her arm, "Where are you going?"
"Bathroom."
"But I'm hungry."
"Fred you're sick, not immobile." Odette glanced at him once before yanking her hand away.
"And whose fault is that?"
"The weather's." She shrugged.
"Can you bring me some water?"
"Get it yourself."
And as she left the room, she heard Fred shout George's name, followed by "water."
It was well into the night by then, and if Odette got caught in the hallways by Snape, who despite the pass she'd gotten from McGonagall, would take away their house points, she was doomed.
She entered the one bathroom she was certain no one would ever set foot in, and was immediately greeted by Moaning Myrtle's wails.
"Hi Myrtle." She said entering a random stall.
"Shouldn't you be asleep?" Myrtle poked her head into the stall.
Odette glared at her and she took that as her cue to leave, "Fred's sick. I'm taking care of him."
"In the bathroom? Is Fred here?" She said excitedly.
"No, hes in the Hospital Wing." Odette smiled at Myrtle's saddened sob.
Odette flushed the toilet, walking toward the sinks to wash her hands. She'd always loved the little snake details on them.
Myrtle popped out of the mirror, nearly sending Odette into cardiac arrest, "Is Fred single?"
"You have got to stop doing that!" Odette shouted.
"You didn't answer my question."
For the sake of Fred's emotional peace, Odette lied, "No, he's dating Angelina."
Myrtle began crying and Odette saw her go down a toilet. With a disgusted look in her face, Odette said, "It wouldn't work, Myrtle."
"Why not?"
"Well, sweetie..." Odette didn't know how to put it, so she chose the most direct route. "You're dead."
"Are you suggesting I kill him?"
Odette gasped, "What?! No! Myrtle!"
Myrtle began laughing, which she did not do often, "Do tell me when he's single, though."
"I will." Odette was sure to keep Fred as away from Myrtle as was possible.
