Chapter Forty-eight

Theme: The Final Exams

    TANIA'S POV

  I might not make it and who knows I might but there's one thing I want to do before anything else,and that's making sure two people who don't see eye to eye get back together and forgive one another. I looked forward to this day,the day I would be bold and not scared anymore to tell Adrian to talk to his dad and let out all his hard feelings.

   
     "Well...... I...... I uhm..... I talked to him" I said.

    "You did what?!!" Adrian asked.

    "I talked to your Dad and all I saw was a damaged man full of regrets,he wants to talk to you Adrian..... Give him a chance"

    "You don't know him,that man tortured me!!! Beat up my mom!!! He's an animal..... He drinks to stupor and I always have to face the embarrassment out there!! There's no way I'm giving him a chance, he's a monster!"

    "That monster is your father Adrian" I said trying to convince as he was already furious.

   "No..... He's not..... And I would love it if you don't get involved anymore.... Get some rest" He said as he left through the window.

   Well,that didn't end on a good note. I don't think he'd ever get back with his father,I tried. And seeing how he's getting mad,I better stay off.

   Days passed and I was back on taking music lessons from Adrian,he became my permanent coach for both school work and music. About music,I was getting better everyday..... It was the one thing I did without hesitating or stress..... I just sang and played my guitar as the spirit led me.

   You'd be wondering if I talked about Adrian's Dad again with Adrian.... No I didn't. We just focused on the final exams and nothing else. And my health wasn't getting any better,I was getting treated at home..... All my pills,injections and other medical supplies were all in the house,my room had the smell of a hospital ward😷.

  The final exams finally came, i woke up that morning feeling weak. I tried to stand up from bed and I fell to the ground, my feet were wobbling and I could not hold my self up. My mum knocked on my door and came in,she saw me on the floor trying to stand and she ran to lift me up in panic.

   "What happened honey?! " Mum said as she helped me on the bed.

   "I tried to stand up but I couldn't, it has affected my legs too"

    "You are going to be fine honey,i promise"

    "Going to be fine?!! Look at me!! Do I look like I'm going to be fine to you?!! Every single day I lose myself, I'm as skinny as a stick,I don't have hair on my head anymore, I can hardly breathe and now I can't walk..... I'm as good as dead,how am I going to be fine?!!!" I raised my voice.

    "Honey,trust me..... The Doctor said you'll be fine,these are just side effects"

   "Side-effects from what?! From what mum??!! Why do you and Dad keep lying to me?! I heard..... I heard everything the doctor said. I know I'm going through the final stages of cancer, i know everything mum" I said as tears rolled off my cheek.

    "Babyy" Mum said as she was already teary-eyed.

   "I know its hard for you and Dad,but at least you inform me of what's going on in my life,you don't keep it away from me..... I'm just a kid,why am I suffering this much??!!" I said crying.

   "I'm so sorry honey,I couldn't bring myself to tell you.....I love you so much and I don't want to lose you" Mum said as she was also crying.

   After the mother-daughter emotional scene, I came to a conclusion to live without no regrets..... No matter how long or short my life span was,I was going to do everything I couldn't do before but first I had an exam to write.

  
     I was taken to the exam hall on a wheelchair since I couldn't walk properly,Adrian and mum were there with me. We were 7minutes late but the exam had not started,phew!

   I was able to pull through the exam,all the coaching paid off. After the exam,I got to see Hailey, she was still shiny and beautiful as ever__ she broke into tears when she saw me on the wheelchair,it was hard for her to take in. I was happy to see her though,I mean my good friend is hale and hearty,what else could I ask for.

   The final exams was finally over and now I had to focused squarely on Julliard application and the audition to get in. I wasn't as strong as before, I got tired,sleepy and weak at the slightest of things but I was really determined about making it to Julliard no matter what so I didn't relent. Adrian didn't also relent concerning my dream,he was there for me every step of the way.

     "Make it a high note when you get to the second verse" Adrian said as he was giving music lessons.

    "I'm tired..... Let's take a break"

   "This is the 40th break we are taking,cmon!!" Adrian said.

    "Babe! You understand better,don't you?!"

    "Yeah I do,ok then,let's take a 5mins break then"

   "Thank you..... Please pass me my pill box over there" I said pointing to the box with my medications on the shelf.

   "Here you go. ... And yeah,I wanted to tell you this earlier, the School is having their prom next week.... You should be there"

    "No way I'm going, I'm more or less not a student of that school anymore,I did not show up to classes for a while...... I can't just show up at their prom"

    "Of course you can go,you don't have to be a student"

    "No no no..... I can't even walk, how do you suppose I dance when its time to dance?!"

     "Its not necessary actually and if you want to...... I'll be there every step of the way to make sure you don't fall"

    "You'd do that for me?!" I asked

   "I will do anything for you Tania" Adrian replied.

    "Thank you babe,that really came through..... So what do I wear??!!

    " Simple! One of your mum's dress"

   "Hell no!! I'm gonna go missing in the dress😂"

   "And one more thing,you should sing and play the guitar on prom night"

     "Whatttt!!! Hell no I'm singing on stage!!" I said with shock.
