Third pov
Phoenix took a long shower, scrubbing herself clean and repeating it a few times, still feeling like the blood of the man she'd killed was on her face.
It made her stomach twist to think about.
She missed Carter, and she had a feeling he was raising hell himself right now.
The room is Danny's and he told her to take what she wanted from the wardrobe and someone would clean the clothes she'd had with her for her to use later. So she grabs a button up and pants, both too big for her and grabs her shoes before exiting the room.
She knows the house they're in, Danny's had it since before he met her the first time.
"Hungry?"
Danny and Mateo are sitting by the table in the dining room. The table's filled with things easy on the stomach.
Phoenix knows that she doesn't have to care about manners right now and digs in.
They don't talk while they eat, but they do afterwards.
"What's your plan for now?"
She shrugs. "I need to contact a few friends, see what they're doing and what info they have on the people trying to kill me. After that I should call Carter and see to it that he doesn't strain himself."
Mateo swallowed the strawberry he'd been chewing. "Do you know who tried to kill you?"
"Yeah, a guy named Jakande and Deckard Shaw." She saw their reactions. "Brian and the others pissed off Shaw when they fought Owen Shaw, and the guy apparently figured he'd go for the easiest accessible members of our ragtag group. He hit Han with a goddamn car and I got my very own bomb that ruined my house."
"And Jakande?"
Phoenix made a less than happy face. "Well, Shaw is apparently a part of the The enemy of my enemy is my friend school."
Danny laughed. "You really are something else, at least you've mellowed out."
"I don't think my husband would agree." She muttered.
Mateo was unprepared for the comment and choked on his drink, making Phoenix laugh.
Time skip
The rest of the food had been finished in relative peace.
"Let Cassandra check you over. She's been worried sick since the talk about the bomb in your house got out."
She nodded and Mateo gave her a pat on the back. "She still has her old room."
Phoenix sighed, Cassandra wasn't going to be very happy with her general health right now.
Oh well, better to take the bull by the horns, right?
*******************************************************************
Furious was an understatement to what Carter Verone was currently feeling.
Deckard Shaw had not only targeted Carter himself, he'd also blown up his house and tried to do so with his wife in it.
And now there wasn't anyone that had any specific location to give him for his wife.
No. Carter was currently not very happy.
Something that meant being in the same country as his mother was a pain in itself.
"Your wife will be fine, she's tougher than a bag of nails as far as I've heard." Mariah said, sipping her wine.
"I am well aware of what she can do, I married her." There's just a touch of irritation in his voice, but no more than that. Mariah is still his mother and he does have manners.
"Then what are you planning to do?"
"I'm getting in touch with Brian O'Connor."
I AM SO SORRY THIS HAS TAKEN MONTHS!
I was in the middle of writing on this book last year but then school started and I just never had the time to watch the movies or read what I'd already wtitten and I was swamped in school work.
God, I've missed this book. I hope I haven't lost too many of you.
Vote and comment, it keeps me motivated :)
