Rory kept watching Jess' face to try and determine what was wrong. Was this normal for Rory and Jess' relationship? She thought back to how many times Jess had shut down because he did not want to vocalize his feelings with Rory. It hurt her back in high-school when they dated and he would shut down, and it seemed to be hurting her just the same now. 

She walked over to Jess when she saw him across the room, grabbing a beer. 
"Hey." She smiled. He nodded softly, briefly smiling at her. "Did I do something?" Rory took a chance.
"No, no. Like I said, I'll tell you about it in a bit." He tried to reassure her.
"Okay." Rory decided to drop the subject. For now, at least.
Rory heard a crashing sound suddenly, followed by a thud. Rory spun around expecting something to had fallen, little did she know it would be a someone rather than something.
