Intro
I'm so dumb. I'm probably the dumbest kid on earth. Here's a word of advice: When Jeremy Martin dares you to go into an old abandoned house, DON'T DO IT.
Chapter 1:
It was Monday, October 27 and Jeremy Martin was handing out invitations to a Halloween party that would be on Friday night. I hate Jeremy. He's a snob that thinks he's so special because his parents have a lot of money. Jeremy has parties all the time, and I usually wasn't invited, but for whatever reason he decided to ask me to come this time. I didn't really want to go, but had to accept when my mom saw the invitation in the trash and said, "Kayn, it's good to spend time with your friends. I'll call his mom right now to RSVP." My parents think that I desperately need to spend time with friends whenever I can. The way they tell it, you would think all I do is stay in my room with the doors locked and the blinds shut. They don't want me to be a loner, but I already am, so it's kind of useless.
The next day at school, all anybody could talk about was the party. Everybody was so excited about their costumes and Jeremy made a point of telling the entire class about his custom-made pirate costume made by a professional costume artist. I rolled my eyes and sighed. All eyes turned to me. I guess my sigh had been louder than I thought. "Well, what are you wearing? If you're not impressed by my custom outfit, you must have something REALLY special to wear," Jeremy snapped. "Haven't decided yet," I said, opening my book to start reading so as to make everyone stop looking at me. I could feel my face heating up. I glanced up and nobody's eyes had moved away. "Well..." I stuttered, "It's going to be great, though, you can be sure of that." "Ha! Right! I can't wait to see what you pull together," Jeremy laughed. "Neither can I," I thought. The end of school came and I shoved everything into my bag and left as fast as possible. I jumped on my bike and pedaled up the hill using every ounce of strength I had. I skidded into my garage and propped my bike up in the usual spot on the left wall then opened the door and stepped onto the tile flooring in my kitchen. My mom was sitting at the table, on her laptop, working. As usual. "Hi Kayn. How was school today?"
"Fine, Mom."
"Just fine?"
"Yeah."
You see, my mom is a psychologist. Instead of just being a normal parent and accepting "fine", she expects full detail about everything, and if I don't, she assumes I have some deep, psychological problem or something.
"Are you sure you don't want to go into more detail?" she asked. "Mom, it was just a normal day, okay? I learned and ate lunch and then learned some more. That's all."
"Okay, then."
I ran up the steps and dropped my backpack onto my bed. I sat down at my desk and pulled up EBay on my laptop. I needed a cool costume by Friday that had a reasonable enough price to get my parents to pay for it. I didn't want to waste all the money I had saved up on a dumb costume. A page pulled up with about a billion different costumes on it. "Pirate, no, doctor, no, clown, definitely no." You see, if have this huge fear of clowns and anything to do with them. I just think they're creeps wearing makeup. I kept scrolling until I finally found the right one. It was a knight costume, and it only cost $25. That was at just the right point to where my parents would still pay for it. I picked up my laptop and walked downstairs. My dad had just picked up my little sister, Ruby, from kindergarten and brought her home. "Mom? Dad? Can I ask you something?" I set my laptop on the table and turned it around. "Can you buy me this costume for Jeremy's party on Friday? It's perfect and it isn't expensive. Please!" My mom and dad looked at each other and then my dad looked at me. "Kayn, I don't know. We have a lot of costumes in the attic. Can't you wear one of those to his party?" "Dad, those are all too small. I want this one!" This hadn't happened before. Usually they just said yes and we moved on with our lives. "Sport, we can't just pay for everything you want. Sometimes you have to work hard and get things yourself," my dad said with an unreadable look on his face. I thought I could get them to crack. "I know, I just don't have much money saved up and it would all be wasted on this costume, and it's perfect," I said, looking down. I knew how to do this sort of thing, "but if you don't want to get it, I just won't go." I knew they really wanted me to go to that party. And they knew that I really wouldn't go unless I got this. "Okay, but just this once, Kayn," my mom said to me. "Thanks, Mom! Thanks Dad!" I said happily. I picked up my laptop and bounded up the stairs two at a time.

My Worst Fear
HorrorHi. I'm Kayn. I'm 11 years old and I live in a small town called Willowsville. Some people say I'm crazy, but I'm not. I'm just scared like any normal person would be if they had gone through what I did.
