"No! I'm fine I swear!" I bursted into tears as my mother informed me I was being sent away.
"No you're not Ava! You haven't eaten in weeks and I've seen the cuts! You need help! Help that I cannot give! Now go come on you're bags are already packed and your father is waiting." she grabbed my arm dragging me towards the car.
"Stop please!" I cried as she shoved me into the car.
"I'm sorry" was all she said before slamming the door. I watched my mother make her way back into the house as my father drove away silently.
"I can't believe you're letting this happen!" I exclaimed as he continued driving.
"It's for your own good Ava. Your mother and I love you very much and we just want you to be okay. Remingtons is going to help you" my dad never looked away from the road.
"I'm fine! Why doesn't anyone believe me!" I fell back into my seat.
"No your not!" my father yelled slamming on the breaks.
"Someone who is fine doesn't weigh only 70 pounds at age 17! Someone who is fine doesn't have scars littering her wrists! Someone who is fine wouldn't keep a bottle of pills in her dresser draw just in case! You are not fine Ava! You are so far from it! That is why you are going to go to Remingtons and you're gonna stay there till you are better god damn it!" I curled into myself as he yelled.
"I'm sorry "I squeaked as he went back to driving taking deep breaths.
"Ava. Wake up we're here" I was startled awake by my fathers voice.
"Okay" my voice cracked as I stepped out of the car and took my suitcase from my father.
"It's gonna be okay kiddo" my father said rubbing my shoulder as we stood at the front desk.
"You must be Ava!" an over excited nurse exclaimed.
"Yeah thats me." I mumbled.
"We're gonna take care of you here sweetie. Say goodbye to your father hun" she instructed me.
"Bye dad." I gave him an awkward hug.
"Bye sweetheart" he kissed my forehead before shaking the nurses hand.
"We're gonna take care of her" the nurse smiled at my dad as he turned to leave.
"Well sugar my names Nurse Suzy. I'll be taking care of you while you're here. Why don't I show you too your room?" she asked taking my bag.
"Okay." I mumbled and followed her down the hallway. It had rainbows and flowers all over it.
"Here we are" Suzy lead me into a small little room that was divided by a curtain.
"Avi? You back there?" Suzy called to who I'm guessing is my new room mate.
"Yes ma'am" a deep voice came from the otherside before the curtain was pulled back to reveal probably the most gorgeous guy I've ever seen.
"Hi" the boy smiled at me not paying attention to Suzy.
"Avi!" he was snapped out of his trance by Suzy clapping her hands.
"I want you to show Ava around. She's gonna be here awhile" I glared at her as Avi chuckled.
"It'd be my pleasure" Avi smiled holding a hand out for me to take. I eyed it skeptically crossing my arms over my chest.
"Thats fine" Avi took a step towards me still smiling.
"Come on I'll show you where all the fun is" Suzy started laughing under her breath as Avi rolled his eyes.
"Come on" he lead me out the door and back down the corridor.
"So why are you here?" he asked me after a few moments of silence. I quirked an eyebrow at him.
"You're not much of a talker are you?" Avi asked. When I didn't answer he just started talking again.
"Well I'm here because I have a tumor in my brain" he tapped the side of his head.
"The doctors say they can get it out with surgery but I don't believe it. I've been here since I was fourteen when I started out with thyroid. I went into remission until they found my tumor a few months ago" he sighed looking at the ground.
"I'm sorry" I mumbled quietly but he still heard it. A grin spread across his face.
"So you do talk. Well thats a shocker" he joked. I glared at him locking my jaw.
"Not funny? Okay well I want you to meet some people." Avi smiled again as we entered a game room filled with sick kids.
"Yo! Guys!" Avi yelled out to a group of kids gathered around a table playing cards. They all got up and met us at a larger table.
"Guys this is Ava" Avi smirked as I gave him an unammused loo. He was black with a bigger build and on crutches.
"I'm Keith" he smiled holding out his hand. I shook it gently.
"This is Lindsey" he clamped a hand on a short red headed girls shoulders.
"Hi" she smiled warmly at me.
"I'm Seth" the tall blonde boy smiled down at me.
"I'm Mitch." A boy with an oxygen tank spoke up from behind Scott giving me a wave. I waved back to him.
"She doesn't talk much" Avi explained.
"I think you can figure that out" he smiled stroking his beard. I giggled slightly.
"Hey you made her laugh!" Keith exclaimed happily. I rolled my eyes with a smile.
"We're gonna get you to talk in no time" Lindsey smiled at me as she skipped off to another table.
"So Ava why are you here?" Scott asked as we all took our seats.
"Babe! She just got here don't be pushy" Mitch scolded Scott.
"Its okay" my voice was a small squeak but everyone heard it. A silence came over the group as their eyes grew large and their smiles widened.
"My uh parents think I'm anorexic and um depressed" I tugged at my sleeves a habit I always had.
"I'm sorry" Mitch have me a side frown.
"Well enough sappy talk. I'm gonna show Kirstie where all the fun is at." Avi smiled.
This guy makes me nervous.
