In a faraway place, there were six countries. For years, they have been in a dispute with each other. Squabbling over resources, politics, and rights. For years it continued. Until one day, three of the countries broke out in conflict. The countries of Illan, Terran, and Rem. The country of Illan was known for its great wealth, majoring in tourism. Of course not for the conventional tourism of landscaping, but rather in attractions, gambling, and Red-light districts with a rather dark slave trade on the side.
Terran was known for its beautiful landscape, and capitalism in farming, and production, as well as its unique cuisine. However, they were also known for their desire to expand, and thus had a decent means of attempting to achieve that goal, whether by talking or by fighting.
The country of Rem was known for its power. Having a skilled army, and a network of vast connections. They were also known for quite a few times starting corrupt campaigns and having a few issues at home. The other 3 nations, Redan, Corpus, and Pulye, were smaller but still were well known.Redan was once part of Rem, but broke away and made its own nation. They are similar to what Rem is except they focus on sciences rather than brute force. Corpus, was an industrial and mining nation, making them very rich, and the envy of all the other nations. There were a few times one nation anonymously tried to achieve some of Corpus's wealth. But none have succeeded yet.
Pulye was the master of ships and was the trade nation. They provided ways for each nation to trade, and expand, and because of this, Pulye was usually left alone in peace, despite a few squabbles that had happened. Pulye did however have political influences within each of the other 5 nations, which it exploited whenever it saw fit. This was also the place where the dark sides of each nation would convene and was the capital of the slave trade. Our story begins amidst the conflict of the three larger nations of Illan, Terran, and Rem. The conflict which has been named The War of Lust has been taking place for two and a half years now. Amidst the conflict, a third party has arisen, and taken the fighting nations by surprise. The third party took control over the nation of Terran quickly and Illan soon followed. Rem lasted longer, but they too fell into the hands of the enemy. None of the six nations were responsible for this takeover, and they didn't know who. But it was then revealed a man was responsible, his influence had raised an army that remained hidden until he called upon them. They then marched down and took control of the nations.
The smaller nations began to fear, and Corpus quickly surrendered. Pulye remained out of it until they were demanded to join. Leaving only Redan to resist.
No one knew where this man came from, only that he went by the name Kainosis. Raising a united Empire under his rule called Kainaria. Although it was not a good rule as he ruled with an iron fist, and mercy was not familiar to him. Now Redan was off the coast of the mainland, where four of the other nations were. Only Pulye and Redan were coastal Islands, although Redan was larger. Which made it harder for Kainosis's army to reach. Even by boat it was difficult. However, all Redan could do was hold them off, and even then they did not know how long. However, a young slave born from Illan, and sold in Redan, would change that.It was a hot sunny day in the harbour district of Steelharbour also known as Arrowtide. One of the largest, and most powerful ocean port cities in all of Redan. Kauan walked along the street, doing what he was assigned to do. He had grown up in the slave trade and had been a slave his whole life, his mother was a slave as well. He was born when his mother's master fell in love with his slave. Although when he was born Kauan was sold. He never knew his mother further than that. It was a hard life, to say the least. He had been passed around by several masters, some rougher than others, so he was no stranger to pain.
This master now was just ignorant rather than abusive, but occasionally he was struck for being late or making any mistake, or doing something to his master's disliking. He didn't even think about running away, for it would be pointless. Slaves have a special marking on them, that separates them from the commoners and nobles. So even if he did run, he would be found sooner or later and returned. No one involves themselves with marked people, which means unless you have your "master's bid" object, which is a small object, marking, or clothing, that identifies who your master is, you cannot buy or sell anything. It was rather pointless to try. However, Kauan did not care at this point. It was his life, and he did his best doing his job.
