--
i walked across the pavement, my black converses occasionaly scraping the ground. making more scruff-marks on the raggy shoes. the sole of the shoes were already tearing off, dragging with every ambled step.
the ringing of my phone cut through the peaceful silence, causing me to sigh and dig the small blackberry from my jean pockets,
"hello?"
"is this sysira?"
"uh--yea, whos this?"
"thats not important." the mans deep, scratchy voice sent shivers down my spine. fear started to flood my body as i shuffled around, speeding up my walk.
"what do you w-want?"
"are you scared, sysira?"
"n-no", my voice came through in a small tremble, shaking on my lips.
"you should be."
with that the call ended with a click, then a small buzzing noise before silence. i dropped my phone to the ground, the screen rattled against the pavement. fear shattered and exploded inside of me, my body shaking as i took of into a fast sprint. cold air nipped at my skin, prickling like a thousand needles on my cheeks and nose. the sound of wind rushing by and panting filled my ears, accpompanied by the sound of a crickets lullaby.
am i going to die?
a thousand thoughts ran through my mind, each rattling my fear further. adrenline pumped through my body, sending my limbs into overdrive. each one pumping faster.
and faster.
and faster.
eventually the bright street lights of north-port came into view, relief covering my fear as i slowed to a jog. i pulled my royal blue hoodie over my head, tightning the strings on it so it would stay up. i tucked all my blonde curls into it, pulling the over-sized hoodie down to my thighs. my feet began to slap against the ground as i started running again.
'VROOOooooooom'
a gasp and a shriek left my mouth when a black suv screached to a stop beside me, the doors flying open.
"get her!"
i screamed and took off across the park, hopping over small rocks and logs, falling to the sound of a sickening crack and pain spreading up my leg. my eyes glanced down to see my ankle twisted into an awkward position, hiding in a hole.
i whimpered when i tried to stand, another wave of pain crashing down on me, flooding my senses.
arms wrapped around me, probbing my body as i was picked up. my body lay limp in their arms, failure filling me. tears pooled in my eyes, threatning to spill over.
