When Sable was younger he'd seen more than the average child had. He'd seen his mother beaten and used by his father. When his father would get tired of hitting his mother he would hit Sable, cursing and yelling at him for not being enough of a man. Claiming that he was half the man his mother was and that he was nothing more than a disgrace. One night a few years later his father went looking for a fight, waiting for his mother, Sable brought the fight to his father. After all the years of being beaten and kicked around he'd finally been man enough to stike back. That night his mother wasn't home, he'd have to fend for himself , she wouldn't be home until she knew his father was gone. His father'd been drinking, dinking heavily so in a daze he swung and missed repeatedly. One of his hits struck Sable's nose, and one struck his chest. Sable swung back and with less force than his father had swung with, his intention wasn't to kill him. Yet his father had stumbbled and struck a banister, and onto the glass coffee table. As soon as his father stopped breathing his mother walked in and Sable explained what happened. When he finished explaining his mother sat on the couch, staring at her hands then taking off the ring his father had given her. She put the ring on the shattered glass around his father and they packed their things.

They moved to a new town and he met a girl. She was perfect and she promised him and he believed her. So when he proposed and she said yes he figured life would be perfect with her, he pictured having kids and being better than his father ever was. Six months after they married he was planning a special night,  when he came home there were more voices than just hers. He walked in to find her with four other guys. They divorced and he turned to drinking to help him get over her. He vowed to never let himself fall in love again, hoping that he'd be able to drink away any feelings or any hope of finding love.

Sable met a girl named Trixie, she helped him to not have to rely on alcohol to numb his broken heart. Soon enough he was back to his old self and not having to rely on alcohol for feelings. He got a part time job as a mechanic and moved out of the town he'd met his now ex wife in, finding a comfortable house with room for a roomate. So he called Trixie and she moved in with him, making the house a little less lonesome.
