first day jitters

Uraraka POV:
"okay, bags? check. books? check. phone? check."
i smiled as i mentally crossed each item off of my pretend bucket list. i grab my charger, along with other miscellaneous things i need and headed downstairs to the kitchen.

"MMMM!! french toast with strawberries! my favorite!" i exclaim, excitedly bouncing through the kitchen.
"well it is you're first day of college, and i won't have the opportunity to make you breakfast anymore so i thought, why not end on a high note?" my mom said, a sad tone in her voice.

"don't worry mama, you know i'll come visit often." i reassured as a kissed her on the cheek. she lovingly accepted it and turned her attention back to cooking.
she had just sat down my plate as dad walked in.
"good morning my lovely ladies!" he exclaimed with the same pep he has after all these years. he gave both of us a kiss of the cheek before grabbing his coffee, slipping a piece of french toast on his plate, and making sure to get extra strawberries. great minds think alike, right?

mom grabbed her own plate and we all sat peacefully chowing down our dishes.
"so, hun, how do you feel about getting accepted into UA? it's a very prestigious school with a lot of students. think you're ready?" i look at my dad with an excited glint in my eyes.
"i'm more than ready! all my hard-work in high school paid off so you guys don't need to help me with student loans, and i'm going to get the best nursing education in the country! i cant wait to start! i know it's going to be tough, but i've always wanted to help people and make a better living for you guys. everything is looking up and i'm excited to meet new people!" i stuffed my last piece of french toast in my mouth and slipped another one on my plate. extra strawberries, as always. as i was up i decided to grab myself a cup of coffee.

"my goodness i'm going to miss you're optimism. you've always had such a positive outlook on life. you're going to be an amazing nurse one day sweetie," my mom exclaimed
i set my cup down after taking a sip.
"thanks mom," i said with a smile. "it means a lot." i looked at the clock on the stove.

"we should wrap up breakfast. don't wanna be late to getting my dorm!"
i dashed upstairs and started to haul down my bags. once everything was downstairs, dad helped me pack everything into our car. before i knew it, i was watching my childhood home disappear into the distance and it finally hit me that i was on my own. i was starting my official adult life.
"please let this year go smoothly." i silently thought to myself.
