Chloe jolted awake in her bed, body trembling and tears streaming down her face. She had just woken up from yet another horribly vivid nightmare. Chloe had been trapped in Hell for five nights now (give or take, the constant darkness and lack of clocks was confusing), and every night she suffered from a different, and equally horrible nightmare.

The one she had just woken up from might have been the worse one yet. It had started out nice, which in a way only made it worse. She had just given birth to a healthy baby boy who looked just like a carbon copy of Lucifer, and everything was well. Lucifer was in the hospital cafeteria getting something for them to eat, which left Chloe and the baby alone.

Then out of the blue, Marliel had appeared. Chloe then became paralyzed again, and was helpless as the angel snatched her baby away. And then she had flown off to Heaven with the child in her arms.

Lucifer had come back shortly after that, and was furious when she had told him that the baby was gone. He had blamed her for it, and claimed that he hated her for allowing it to happen.

Then Chloe had woken up when Lucifer stormed out of the hospital room, claiming that he was moving back to Hell.

Chloe knew that it was only a nightmare, that in no scenario would it ever come true. But that didn't stop the tears from falling and the sobs to shake her body. Chloe hated this place, and desperately wanted to go home. But she couldn't do anything but wait, and trust that someone would come to get her... If they came to get her.

Chloe hadn't left the palace ever since she arrived, and there was almost nothing to do that did not include torture. She had had a few conversations with Lilith, but the mother of demons was busy most of the time. Chloe had talked to Dilo when she had nothing better to do. He had endless questions about earth and humanity that Chloe answered to the best of her ability.

Lilith had gone to a meeting with the two tribes to resolve the conflict, which left Chloe to her own devices.

Chloe couldn't bare even the thought of another day in the castle, so she came up with another idea. Chloe wiped her tears and stood from the bed. She stretched her sore muscles and groaned. This bed was almost as bad as the one she and Dan had slept on during their honeymoon.

Chloe picked up the plate of stale whole-wheat crackers to nibble on for breakfast. It was the most appealing thing Hell's cuisine had to offer. Once her hungry stomach no longer felt like it wanted to murder her, but only slap her, she made her way to the door. She simply knocked on it and waited for Dilo to open it for her.

Since the door was so heavy for Chloe, they had decided to just let him open it for her. Chloe usually didn't approve of having things done for her, but she was just too sore from sleeping on the hard bed to argue. At this point, the floor felt softer.

Dilo opened the door for the detective. "Hello, Miss Decker." Dilo greeted. "Mother is still out and hasn't come back yet."

"I figured." Chloe answered. Dilo knitted his eyebrows and tilted his head. "Then why are you leaving your room?"

Chloe usually just stayed in her room for the majority of the time, not wanting to go out around the palace. "I was wondering if we could go outside." Chloe suggested innocently. Chloe's curiosity has practically been eating her alive from the Inside, wanting to go out and explore. Chloe couldn't be half the detective she was if she didn't possess a good heaping of curiosity.

Dilo raised his eyebrows practically into his hairline, and wore an uncomfortable expression. "Uhh, Mother told me to keep you here where it's safe, so I don't know..."

Chloe felt irritation run through her. She hadn't known about that. Chloe wasn't some prisoner they could keep here until Lucifer came. They had no right! But instead of voicing these concerns, Chloe plastered on a pleasant smile she used often during her Hot Tub High school days.
