Alas, it was Friday. The one day of the week where both Amelia and Sakura could finally settle down, relax, and unwind with some movies and cuddles.
The two were girlfriends, yet didn't see each other as much as they'd like due to their professional and work lives. So, when Friday finally rolled around, neither of the two girls could wait to see the other and spend the rest of the evening watching movies and falling asleep in the other's arms.
Sakura walked briskly as the cold wind whistled around her shivering frame. She pulled her pink scarf up higher around her nose, mentally scolding herself for not accepting Amelia's offer to pick her up. Now, due to her self-consciousness and desire to not be a bother, Sakura was freezing her ass off as she trudged through the late January night. I thought this was supposed to be the south? She thought to herself, recalling that the American south in wintertime should typically be mild and chilly. This, however, was not mild nor chilly.
Her train of thought was cut short, however, when she saw the headlights of a dark-blue sports car approach her in the darkness of night. She froze, much like a deer in headlights (literally), and slowly began to back away in fear of what motives the driver held. Was she going to be kidnapped? Raped? Killed? Was she just overthinking like she usually did? Probably. All that fear and doubt vanished, however, when she heard that care-free voice with a peculiar Cali-girl-Southern mix of an accent.
"Yo, Sakura, hop in!"
...
The girl had never been so eager to climb into a car before. She sat in the passenger seat next to Amelia, warming her hands up to the heater that sputtered comforting blasts of warmth that filled her body with relaxation. "I know you like, told me not to come pick you up, but it's so damn cold outside tonight!" Amelia's loud voice rang out as usual, causing Sakura's cheeks to develop a slight pink pigmentation. "This has been one of the coldest nights we've seen 'round here in YEARS! Least it's not as bad as it was last year's winter, you'd mistaken it for Russia's place if you ain't know better! We had whole power outages down here, it was awful for the people who were without heating or electricity! I swear, some of that snow got up'ta eight inches! EIGHT! For Texas? If ya'd told me back in February of 2017, I would'a laughed in your face and called 'ya a prick, 'cause that year was WARM! Oh, I reckon that also..."
Amelia went off on one of her mindless rambles as Sakura slowly drifted off to sleep. Just hearing the sound of her girlfriend's voice caused a rush of warmth to run throughout her body, making her feel like she could be protected from anything in the world...
...
"We're here!" Amelia giggled, gently rubbing her girlfriend's shoulder as to wake her from her short-lived slumber. Sakura's eyes fluttered open, the artificial glow of florescent lights blinding her as she squinted her eyes and adjusted to her surroundings. The two were in Amelia's garage, parked and sitting in a comfortable silence as the wind howled fiercely outside.
"W-Was I asleep for long...?" Sakura stammered, quickly rubbing the sleep from her eyes and fixing her posture. Amelia giggled at her embarrassed behavior. "Hey, no need to feel embarrassed about!" She reassured her lover. "In fact, I'm a lil' sleepy too. Wanna get inside and cuddle up?" Sakura managed a sleepy nod as Amelia giggled again. The more-awake girl briskly exited the car and practically skipped over to the passenger's side, carefully scooping up her girlfriend in her arms as she brought her inside.
The couch was already arranged in an array of pillows and blankets, which Sakura took a liking to as she let out a content sigh as Amelia gently placed her beside her. Amelia smiled as she covered both her girlfriend and her with a fuzzy, blue blanket and propped themselves up with soft, compact pillows. Sakura scooched closer to her lover, burying herself deeper in the blankets as she once again slowly drifted off to sleep. Amelia joined her under the blankets, covering her with soft kisses as Sakura continued to fall asleep in her arms. Amelia held her tightly, thinking to herself what she had done to deserve such a cute, wonderful girlfriend.
Eventually, Amelia fell asleep as well, the two girls entangled in each other's arms as they were both captivated in the world of dreams, dreams of their wedding, future children, and so many more wonderful things that were sure to come.
