Chapter 1

The Face The Music Tour had come to an end before the tour had even finished, New Kids On The Block had talked to their management and decided to end it. They could feel that things were not the same anymore, fans didn't come out to see them anymore, they weren't dying to get near one the guys anymore, Jon had left the group in the middle of the tour and they had tried to continue without him. In the end they had all sat down and talked about it, this was the end for them.

After the press conference to end the band's disbanding the guys had all returned home to Boston. Joey Mcintyre now 22 years could not believe that his life was basically over, he didn't even know what he was supposed to do with himself. He had been in NKOTB since he was 12 years old, he had been making music, touring, meeting fans, signing autographs, running from screaming girls. There were dolls made of him, there were books about him, there used to be posters on girls walls of him, he used to be all over magazines and now it was all just over.

He sighed as he walked through the front door of his house and looked at the empty space surrounding him.

It was so lonely, and he didn't even know what his next step was going to be, he decided to go visit his Mom. Atleast he knew that she would be happy to have him around, so he grabbed his car keys and headed out to his car. He climbed in and drove over to his mother's house and parked in front of it.

After turning the car off, he climbed out of it and headed towards the front and let himself in.

"Mom!" Joey called out.

"In the here!" Katherine Mcintyre called back to her son.

Joey followed the sound of her voice and found her in the kitchen of her house, but she wasn't alone. There at the table with her was Anabella Shay and Anabella's mother-Samantha Shay. Smantha and Katherine were both single mothers raising their kids after divorcing their husbands. Joey had known Anabella since they were both nine years old, her family had been living next to his mother for years.

"Um who died?' Joey asked seeing the look on Anabella's face. She looked like her best friend had gotten run over or something.

The two women who were best friends just looked serious as they were sitting there at the table.

Instead of answering him Anabella looked away from him. She played with the bracelet on her wrist.

"Well Damn," Joey said," We used to talk all the time Anabella. What's going on, someone want to fill me in here?"

Anabella stood up knocking her chair over as she went to the back door and pulled it open and ran out of it, leaving the door half way open.

Joey looked startled," Mom?" he asked quietly.

"Bird sit," Katherine said.

Joey took one of the empty chairs at the table and sank into it and looked at his mother, almost afraid to ask what was going on now.

"So I think now is the time that you should hear this," Katherine began looking at Joey. He waited for his mother to continue speaking. " When Anabella and you were younger. Samantha and I made an arrangement."

"What kind of arrangement?" Joey asked confused.

"We think that Anabella and you would be a good match. So we arranged for the two of you to marry when you were twenty-two. We felt like that was an appropriate time for you guys to start a life together," Katherine told him.

Joey's mother had been twenty-one when she had her first kid and then had more later on, which is how she had nine of them. Joey was trying to absorb the information his mother had just given him.

"You want me to marry Anabella?" he asked softly.

He felt his heart beating out of control. He had never imagined that he'd ever marry Anabella Shay. She was one of the most beautiful girls he had ever seen in his life and he had thought that from day one when he was Nine years old.

"Yes," Samantha said," Anabella needs someone who will be there for her, who can take care of her and I know that you care about her."

"Well yes of course I care about her, I just don't understand why she ran out of here," Joey said confused.

"We had just told her that we wanted her to marry you and she was rather upset by it," Samantha said softly.

"She doesn't want to get married?" Joey asked quietly.

"She is just shocked," Samantha said," She will warm up to the idea. She just needs some time."

"I'll talk to her," Joey said softly as he stood up. He headed for the door to go and look for Anabella.

Once he got outside he didn't have to look far, she was sitting under a tree in his backyard with her knees drawn up to her chest and her arms wrapped around them. Joey approached her and stopped before her looking down at her.

"Hey," Joey said softly," Can we talk?"

"What's there to talk about?" she asked finally saying words to him.

"Atleast you are saying words to me again," He said softly, he moved and sat down beside her on the ground," I take it you aren't excited by the news that our mothers want us to get married." 

"No I am definitely NOT excited!" Anabella spit back.

"Why? You know that I care about you, that I would take good care of you. Give you everything that you deserve and more," Joey said softly.

"Because it's just stupid to expect us to get married! I never even see you! I haven't seen you for a long period of time since we were 11! You just come and go like the wind! You barely call, I think you've called me a total of five times over the last ten years! Whenever you are in town you only say hi and ask how I am if you happen to see me somewhere! So tell me why I should marry you again? Because I want to marry for love! I want a man who will always be there when I need him!" She was so pissed off.

Joey sighed softly," The band broke up," he said quietly," That's why I am back. We didn't finish this tour. The album didn't really sell. The fan support isn't even there anymore."

Anabella finally looked at him stunned," No more band?" she asked quietly.

"No more band," Joey said softly," I'm just plain old Joey Mcintyre again."

"Well I'm sorry about the band but I want to marry for love," she told him.
