I don't know how, but I'm aware I'm dreaming.
And even though it's a dream, something about this place is familiar.
Or maybe that's how it feels in dreams.
Across from me was the ocean. Underneath was white sand. And beside me was a guy whose face was blurred. He was saying something to me, but it was all mumbled. The only thing I could make out was my name.
"Meleda."
I tried talking back and I felt the words coming out, but I couldn't hear myself. I don't even know what I was trying to say. The wind and ocean swallowed up our voices.
Suddenly, my vision worsened. He became nothing more than colors. Anxiety ensnarled me, cutting into my sanity. I didn't want him to go. I didn't want to be alone anymore. I tried to tell him stop, but he couldn't hear me. So I screamed. I screamed and screamed praying he hears me. None of them reach him. The ocean drowned me vocally. It ate up my words, meshed it in with the rest of the symphony.
I tried to grab him, but my one-ton arm struggled to lift itself up. Without taking a step, he was miles away from me. Invisible ghosts jumped on that opportunity and snatched me up, constricting me in their voices. They were whispering nonsense I couldn't make out. Yet something in their words kicked off the timer to a bomb I didn't know I had. I can feel the pressure beginning to build.
I finally ripped my arm freed and reached out to the stranger.
Why? Why am I so desperate for him? Do I know him?
"Meleda."
I think so.
That sense of familiarity grew stronger. It compelled my mind to search thru the archive of memories to identity this stranger.
I know him. His name was on the tip of my tongue.
I physically reached out for the answer, grabbing onto the guy. The second I did the distance between us was cut. We now stood face to face. His form was solidifying under my hand; the harder I gripped the clearer he became.
Then, I saw it. His face.
"Meleda," he smiles.
"L-"
