"Kat?" a faint voice said. I groaned as I rolled in my bed.
"Let me sleep.. I got the day off..." I mumbled. They pulled the blanket off of me in one strong pull. I throw a pillow at the person.
"We need you at headquarters, Kat" they answered sternly.
"Ok? Ask me tomorrow when-"
"It's about your brother" they abruptly said. I shot up from my bed. At the foot of my bed, a man about 6 six tall with brown shaggy hair stared back at me. It was Ben, my work partner. We were fairly close due to the many missions we've done together. He was basically my brother from another mother.
"What?" I replied with a blank stare.
"They found new evidence involving your brother's murder.. I'm sorry, Kat" he said as rubbed his face.
"What happened, Ben?"
"They want you off the case..."
"I'm not gonna let them.."
"They said it was for the best.."
"He's my brother! What do they mean it was for the best?" I replied, angrily. I quickly got up from my bed. I walked towards my closet and started rummaging. I heard as Ben slowly walked closer to me. He rested a hand on my shoulder.
"I know how you can get sometimes.."
"How can I get sometimes, Ben?" I turned to face him.
"You let your emotions get the best of you.." he replied awkwardly. His face filled with worry and sadness. I let out a deep sigh before resting my head on my head.
"They know who might be involved.." he continued.
"Who?" I demanded.
"I'm not supposed to tell you..."
"Ben"
"The Spades" he muttered.
