II.Youth: Part 5 [end]

Time passed by quickly. Three more days until the final performance of the trainees of Kirin High School. Three more days for Soon Deok to spend time with Samdong.

Just three more days.

"Soon Deok ah!" Samdong shouted when he saw her outside their school.

She stopped, wave and smile at him. She just finished selling her corn dogs and was about to go home. 

He runs towards her "I'll hold this." he said as he get the tray in her hands.

"Oh,thanks!"

"Are you done?" she asked

He nodded and hold her hand "Let's go! I'm hungry."

Hye Mi was outside the gate of the school and saw the two happily walking away. She sigh.

The next she visited him while practicing. "Where are the others? she said while roaming her eyes on the empty room except them

"They went out for lunch."  he said as he sits on the stage

"Can I hear your song?"  she asked while she sit beside him

"I don't want."

"Why?" she whines

"I want you to be there tomorrow. I won't sing until you come."

"Yah!" she shouted and playfully smash his shoulder. "I told you.."

"You said you will try." he said while looking down.

She sigh and hold his hands. "I will. But what if I can't?"

"When can I see you again?" he asked

"Truth be told, I don't know."

"Come on, I wanna hear it." she said while looking at him closely

He gulped "Why are you so close to me?"

"Why? You don't want?" she was about to pull away when he hugged her tight. "I will miss you, Soon Deok." he whispered

"Me too." she said and hugged him back.

"Can't you just study here in Seoul?" he asked

She shakes her head "I have something important to do. Besides, I don't fit here. I'm just lucky I found a friend in you." she said

He pouts "Yah! Don't be sad. I promise I will contact you." she assures him

"How's your hearing by the way?"

"Hmm. So far so good."

Still holding hands, he cleared his throat and started singing his song for tomorrow's performance.

She smiled and lean on his shoulder. When he finished the song, she gave him a kiss on his cheek "Thank you. You're so amazing." she whispered

Today is the day. He is nervous backstage. Not because of his hearing disability but because of her. He wants her to be there for him.

He tried texting and calling her but she doesn't answer. He looks down and sigh.

"Are you okay?" Hye Mi asked

"Yes."

"Can we talk later? After our performance?" she asked him

"Let's see." he answered "Goodluck." he added and walks out to look for her since there's still a time when Hye Mi stopped her.

"Why?" he asked

"She said she can't come, Samdong ah."

"What?" he was surprised

"Oh, I saw her this morning finding you but you're not still here so she said she can't come later to watch you." she explained

He feels his heary break. He kinda expected it but it still hurts. "O..okay. Thank you." he said

"For the next performer from Kirin High School, Song SamDong!"

He stand on stage with a heavy heart. He is sad and disappointed. He nodded at the staff to play his music.

Luckily, he can hear the music.

He started singing. He sings his heart out. Closing his eyes while saying the lyrics of the song.

He opened his eyes and saw people singing with him. Yet he feels incomplete.

His inspiration is not there.

He's the first chorus, still hoping to see her.

Then she came. He is surprised to see her with his mom. They are both panting.

They saw him and smile at him.

He smiled and continue singing passionately.

As he sings, his eyes are fixed at them who are watching him.

He bows as he finished the song. Soon Deok claps and gave him a thumbs up. "That song is for you, Soon Deok ah!" he said, still on stage

People started to cheer at him. His mother smile at him. "I love you mom." he added and bows again then go backstage.

He runs to his mother after his performance. "I'm so proud of you,son!" she said while holding his face. "Thank you,omma! I can't believe you're here."

"Your friend called me. She said instead of her I should watch you."

"Where is she, omma?"

"Oh she left already."

"What? Why?"

"She said she doesn't have time left, she was about to leave but she saw me on the bus stop. So she accompany me. But you should know that he's proud of you and she tried her best and she is hoping that you will meet again."

He sigh and hug his mom.

"By the way she gave you this" his mom stated and gave him a letter.

"Dear Samdong, As I write this I'm still not sure if I can watch you perform tomorrow. If I can't watch you please don't be mad because I called someone really special to see you perform. I'm proud of you! Continue to reach your dreams. Thank you for being a nice guy to me. Thank you for everything you've done to me for the last three months. I have to go my own way because I don't belong here but I hope we can meet in the future. Please don't forget me. I will miss you, my Samdong. Please be well.
