Lizzie nibbled on a warm brownie while she sorted through her DVDs. It was a family recipe that'd been passed down through generations, and they were the most delicious brownies she'd ever had the pleasure of eating. Not to brag about her culinary skills, but they were heavenly.

She wasn't allowing Nathan to try any until they agreed on a movie, and he was sulking about it on the couch, half-heartedly rifling through the papers he's spread across her coffee table. A small bottle of Advil sat beside a couple half-empty glasses of water.

"'Chicago'?" She asked over her shoulder, pulling it off the shelf to look over the synopsis.

"I refuse to watch a movie where there is an entire scene dedicated to women singing about how they killed their boyfriends," Nathan grumbled, and Lizzie rolled her eyes before sliding it back into its place. She'd been through nearly every movie she owned, and he'd voiced an objection to each one. All that was left were the horrors, and she couldn't watch those.

She'd always wished to be like those women who could sit through a scary movie and point out how fake the intestines looked, or how poorly done a scene was, but instead she always ended up hiding her face in her hands because she couldn't handle the violence and it terrified her. She'd had an awful time teaching after being forced to watch 'Orphan' with her friends, and she kept imagining one of her kids was going to try and kill her. The paranoia gradually went away as she realized how foolish it was, but she was still unable to think straight after watching scary movies.

"Well what do you want to watch? All that's left are horror movies, which I can't watch." Lizzie glanced over her shoulder to see a mischievous glint enter Nathan's eyes and his mouth tipping upward in a wicked grin. "Ooh no, don't you give me that look. I refuse to watch a scary movie, you can't make me!" Nathan took a few steps toward her and she sprinted to hide childishly behind the couch.

She peeked over the back when she heard plastic being shuffled around. Nathan stood up and displayed a movie cover to her that proudly displayed the words 'Mirrors'. Even the cover intimidated her. "Have you seen this?"

"No. And I don't plan to. If you watch it, I'm going upstairs. And the brownies come with me," she said decisively.  She regretted her words when Nathan smiled and slowly began to pad across the carpet, lithe as a panther. Her eyes widened and she made a desperate run for the stairs, but before she even got through the doorway Nathan had scooped her up and over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes. The breath was knocked from her lungs and she gasped in surprise. Whacking her tiny fists on his back, she yelled at him.

"Let me down!" He lightly smacked her butt as he was walking to the kitchen and chuckled. "You leave my bum alone!" She fumed, continuing to hit him ineffectively with her knuckles. Oh, this man was infuriating. "Put me down this second! This is degrading!"

"Nah, I think I'll keep you up here until you agree to watch that movie with me." Nathan was obviously very amused by the situation. "And if you won't let me eat any of these brownies, I will most definitely not leave your bum alone," he said nonchalantly, and Lizzie blushed profusely as he planted both big hands on her butt to prove his point. Apparently it was either die of embarrassment or watch the movie.
