Moving In

"Mom, I know since you and William got married, we'd all be moving in together, but why can't they move in with us?" I complained as I sat in the passenger seat of the moving van. Mom got married just last week to William. I don't know much about him, I only met him a handful of times.

"Mariana Willow Nichols, we've been over this already." She attempted to scold me, but the tiredness in her voice weakened its effects. "There's not enough room in our apartment for three more people. Heck, there was barely enough room for us!" That's true. Our two bedroom apartment would never be able to accommodate William and his two stuck up kids.

Just for the record, I don't know William's kids. There's two of them, twins, Daisy and Myles. I talked to Daisy a little at the wedding, since we were both bridesmaids, but that's all. They're only a year older than me, but go to Blue Ridge Preparatory, the most stereotypical prep school around. While I've been going to Red Valley High.

"By the way," Mom started, "I filled out your school registration forms. You start on Monday." Start on Monday? What does she mean, 'start on Monday"?

"Start what on Monday?" I asked, really hoping she wasn't referring to what I thought she was.

"School." She stated simply, until she noticed the bizarre look on my face. "Don't give me that! William went through a lot of trouble to get you into Blue Ridge mid semester. You should be grateful!"

"..... You're right. I should be."

It was silent after that, not because we didn't have anything to say. But because we had just arrived at William's house.

There was a large letter "H" on the open iron gates at the bottom of the curvy driveway. What's the point of having the gates if they're open? I thought, and Mom must know me better than I thought, because she answered. "He was expecting us." The driveway curved into a small circle in front of the ginormous house, better described as a mini mansion.

The creme colored building towered two stories high, possibly larger than our entire apartment building. "We're going to live here?"
