to watch them glide gracefully into crisp newness
She loved the tension of pressing to become better to watching them burn in smoke
She pressed on till she had no more
So, she folded them gracefully and put back in the empty sleeve
She took the coins and drowned them in her bathroom sink
She scrubbed till her nail beds bled, then put them faced up to see the sun wipe their tears
She threw out the rest of the garbage and filled the slots with future sales
And for the picture, she put it in a frame
And threw it against his wall
