I feel a warm sensation on my cheek momentarily it stings, the physical pain was practically numbing but the whirlwind of emotions was constant.

The sound of flesh meeting flesh echoed within the room, followed by a ringing in my ears as the shock jolts through my body.

The feeling of my mother striking me across my face for something minuscule again, my presence only seems to aggravate her more and more with each passing day. She only does this when my father isn't around knowing he disapproves of unnecessary violence.

"You should've stayed gone." Her words are like venom poisoning me to the core.

I've grown sick of this treatment, not just by my mother but by the whole coven.

I'm at my breaking point. I've tried to be strong, to endure the pain and be hopeful, but it's becoming too much to bear.

I opened my mouth to speak but nothing but the absence of my courage was expressed. A twitch appeared in her cold eyes, a feeling of disgust plastered across her gaze.

"You insolent little girl!" She raises her hand to bat me. I shut my eyes awaiting her hand to cross my cheek. The anticipation alone could have killed me but a loud barking from the neighbors dog seemed to distract mother, and I couldn't stop the whirlwind of tears from escaping me.

How could she look at me like that, isn't there any kind of love in her heart for me. I came from her, she nursed me and took care of me. How could all of that be replaced with hatred because of something I couldn't help, something that was her fault.

All of that sadness quickly turned to rage blinded by courage, "You're supposed to be my mother!" my outburst left a surprised expression on her face, mother herself has never seen this side of me, the side of me that stands up for myself, the side with witty comebacks and snide remarks.

She opened her mouth to speak, "You smart-mouthed li-" my irritation grew as she deflected my statement, "Well one of us has to be the smart one in this conversation." I retorted with a smug expression which eventually became a meek one feeling the adrenaline rush die down in me.

Mother's silence paired with loud sounds of explosive cries coming from outside our living room window, settled me back into reality, "How could you hit me..." my voice became a defeated whisper.

"Like this." she said raising her hand into a fist preparing to drive it into my face, I stared into her gaze realizing that she was no longer my mother, whoever she was, was nothing to me.

"Stop it!" My father says while he seized her wrist in his palm, We were too preoccupied to even hear him come in. "How could you even think to raise a hand against our daughter?!" His voice booms through the room, His eyes blaze with a fierce intensity, the deep scarlet glow seeming to reflect the fury burning within him.

My mother's hand glows a vibrant, electric blue, and I can sense the raw power emanating from her. Her eyes are narrowed, and her jaw clenches as she glares at my father. "She's a disgrace to our family, and you know it." my mother sneers at my father.

"Why the hell are you talking like this!?" His face was twisted in anger, his hair standing on end like a wild beast ready to strike.

My mother scoffs at his thunderous proclamation, "I've tolerated you and this spawn long enough. Whether we're soulmates or not, I will not let this trash live under my roof any longer!" She spins on her heels, before blasting him across the living quarter with a concussive burst of energy.
