Chapter 13

Rachel's POV

4 days ago

We started walking back to the building before it got dark. Well more like sneaking back to the building because that alpha brought a couple of rogues and beasts but luckily they are still far away from the building. We were close to the building but on the way back we were silent and it was awkward. Once we got into the building, Sasha walked into Seth's room and Avery was about to go into Seth's room but I stopped her. "Avery, are you okay?" I said, sounding worried a bit. "I'm fine really Rae, I'm just glad that everyone is fine now but we have to move soon." Avery said, forcing a smile. "Ave, we can't move right now because of Seth when she wakes up we can move." I said, sighing. Avery sat down and pulled out a cigarette. I smacked the cigarette and glared at her. "I thought you quit smoking 3 years ago." I said, angrily at her. "I just recently started smoking again after Brook's death, okay." Avery said, glaring at me. "Why the fuck are you lying to me right now." I said, getting more angry. "What are you talking abo-" She was about to say until I interrupted her. "You're playing with your ring and you always do that when you're lying so I'm going to ask you again, why the fuck are you lying to me?" I said sitting across from her.

"Fine! I didn't stop okay! I only smoke sometimes but not a lot like I used to a long time ago." Avery said, running her hand through her hair. "Unbelievable, we made a fucking promise, that I will quit drinking and you will stop smoking for Seth and Brook! And all of these years you broke it like it was nothing!" I said, getting up and throwing the chair across the room. "I didn't mean to Rachel, it's just hard to quit okay! It doesn't hurt anyone if I smoke once in a while!" Avery said, getting up and walking closer to me. "It's fucking hurting me! You don't think it's hard for me to fucking quit drinking! I always want to drink on Tess's birthday! Her anniversary death date! And now another reason for me to drink is Brook! You know what I'm going for a fucking walk have fun smoking!" I said, storming off. "Wait Rachel!" Avery said, trying to follow me. "AND DON'T FUCKING FOLLOW ME!" I yelled at her. Avery stopped and nodded slowly. I walked out of the building and decided to walk around the area until I calmed down.

30 minutes later

It's official. I think I'm lost and it's night time so now rogues and beasts will be more violent. I walked a little too far away from the building we were staying at. Normally Avery would lead the way since she's better at directions than me. I sighed and just kept walking until I saw a police station. I shrugged my shoulders and walked inside. I walked inside and I had to cover my nose really fast and try so hard not to throw up. I ran outside and was breathing slowly. It smelled like dead bodies and it's been there for a long time. I shook my head and put on my mask before I went back in. I took a deep breath and walked back inside. I pulled out a flashlight and started walking around the building to see if I could find ammo for all of us for the trip. I went through most of the shelves and I found some flares for a flare gun. Luckily I found the flare gun earlier. I grabbed some and put them in my backpack. I put one at least in my pocket and put the flare gun in my pocket as well just in case. I walked further into the building and I heard a growl. I pointed the flashlight at the direction where the growl was at and I saw a rogue. I pulled out a pistol and shot them but it was too late. They howled before I shot them and more rogues were running out of the room where I shot the rogue and I started running away. 

I was shooting behind me and I was running out of ammo in my pistol. I don't have time to reload my pistol to shoot more rogues. Now I really wish Avery was here and Seth as well! I finally reached the exit of the police station and ran out of the building but they were still chasing me. I kept running and I was running out of breath not going to lie. I turned left into an alleyway and I ended up in a dead end. "Are you fucking kidding me!" I yelled, looking around to find an exit. The only exit was to climb up but I can't reach it though! I turned around and saw a bunch of rogues walking up to me slowly ready to attack me. I was still breathing heavily and I pulled out my flare gun with the bullet. I shot the flare in the air and I'm hoping that Avery and them will see that. Looks like I'm going to die here. I sighed and closed my eyes. I was waiting for the impact until I heard a sniper shot. I opened my eyes and saw a dead rogue with a headshot. I looked up and saw Avery with her hand reaching out to me. I saw Sasha and Crystal with pistols and a bow and arrow. They were killing rogues left and right. "RACHEL GRAB MY HAND!" Avery yelled at me with a worried look. I put away my flare gun and I jumped to grab Avery's hand. A rogue grabbed my ankle and I kicked it off my ankle and Avery pulled me up. "RUN!" I yelled and all of us started running back to the building. Once we got to the building me and Avery closed the door and tried to keep the door closed. The rogues were trying to get in and I helped Avery to keep the door closed. "Sasha! Crystal! Allison! Get something heavy to block the door!" I yelled at them. They were running around to find something heavy. They were all pushing a desk and we got out of the way fast. They pushed the desk to the door and now the desk is blocking the door.

We were all breathing heavily but I was breathing heavily the most. I sat down on the floor and I saw Avery walking up to me. "Okay Avery looks like it's my turn to get lectured so get it over with and can't wait to get into an-" I was saying until Avery got down on her knees and hugged me. "I'm sorry, I'm so fucking sorry..." Avery said sounding like her voice is breaking a bit. I just realized that she was crying. I hugged her back and started petting her head. Even though I'm older than Avery, she really is like a little sister to me including Seth as well. "It's okay. We're okay." I keep repeating to her while still holding her. I glanced and I saw that Crystal, Allison, and Sasha looked like they were about to cry. I motioned them to join the hug and they did. I realized that now it's not just the 3 of us, it's the 6 of us.

They finally let me go and I stood up first, "Avery, teach everyone how to shoot better because I realized that Sasha missed a couple of shots and Crystal, you need to have a stronger grip on your bow. Allison I don't know how you shoot a gun but Avery will still teach you." I said walking to Seth's room. "Wait Rachel!" Crystal said, stopping me. I was confused until she kissed me on the cheek. Sasha, Avery and Allison mouths dropped and I feel like my face is red like a tomato. "I'm just glad you're safe and can you change Seth's bandages for me please?" Crystal said, smiling at me. I nodded really fast and she giggled walking to another room to practice her bow and arrow. Allison and Sasha followed Crystal to ask her questions and Avery was giving me her idiot grin. I glared at her. "Wipe that look on your face and go with them." I said, walking away. "Yes madam," Avery said, walking to the other room. I walked into the room and sat down next to Seth. I smiled and put some of her behind her hair. She looks like she's getting a bit better. 

"Hey Seth, so far we are losing our minds without you. You also missed Avery giving me her idiot grin as well but I will tell you that one when you wake up. I miss you a lot even though it's only 2 days, me and Avery almost died. Normally you would keep us in check but now we have to keep you alive which reminds me I need to change your bandages. So that's all I have to say for right now, I will keep you updated tomorrow." I said gently lifting her up a bit. I took out some bandages and some rubbing alcohol. I took off her old bandages and cleaned her wounds. I sighed and gently put on her new bandages. I gently put her down and laid down next to her. When I applied the rubbing alcohol on her wounds she flinched a bit and that gave me hope that she would wake up soon. I closed my eyes and slowly fell asleep. I should be thinking about Seth right now but I just got that kiss out of my mind.
