Chapter 2

Leon was playing with his spoon on the table, untouched oats were in a bowl in front of him. He wasn't feeling very hungry at that moment and he wasn't planning on eating his breakfast. He knew his mom wouldn't let him go to the market without eating his breakfast first so he lifted his spoon and sunk it into his oats, he lifted a spoonful of his mom's amazing cooking and was about to put it into his mouth when his father's hand touched his shoulder. Leon turned around to look at the blue eyed, older man to discover what it is that his father wishes to say.

Bjorn: Hey, Leon why aren't you eating?

Leon: I'm not very hungry right now, dad.

Bjorn: Is that so? Well that's just fine, you don't have to eat.

Julie: What? Of course it's not! He has to eat his breakfast, Bjorn.

Bjorn: Well, actually I was wondering if Leon would like to come with me to Mr. Jaeger's house. If he does it would be better if he didn't eat so we can leave at once.

Julie: Why would you want to take him with you?

Leon: Yeah dad, don't you go to Mr. Jaeger's to do doctor stuff? I'm sorry you had to find out this way but, I'm not a doctor.

Bjorn: *laughing* No, of course not! The thing is Mr. Jaeger has a son, his name is Eren and I wanted you to meet him. You don't usually get to go out with friends much so I thought you could do with some socializing.

Julie: Oh! Well I think that's actually a really good idea! You should go Leon.

Leon: A son? How old is he?

Bjorn: He's six, you're the same age.

Leon: Oh, ok. I don't see why not.

Leon got off his chair and stood next to his dad as his mom approached and his dad put a firm hand on the top of his head, messing up his hair a bit. Julie hugged her son in a tight embrace before he walked out of the house with his dad on his way to meet a new friend.

Bjorn and Leon were arriving at the Jaeger house when Bjorn knocked on the door to announce his presence and Carla Jaeger opened the door to greet them.

Carla: Mr. DeKoning! My husband is waiting for you in the cellar, welcome. Oh, and who is this?

Bjorn: Well, hello Ms. Jaeger and thank you. This is my son, Leon. I brought him so he could meet your son Eren, they're the same age and I thought it would be good for them to socialize and make friends.

Leon: Hello Ms. Jaeger! Nice to meet you.

Carla: Oh, yes I think that's an amazing idea. Eren doesn't have many friends so I think it would be good for him too.

Carla smiled and waved at Leon with a caring look on her face which made Leon smile in return. Carla shouted Eren's name, calling him down to meet the blue eyed boy in front of her.

Eren came down the steps slowly and came to a stop at the bottom of the stairs with his hand still at the end of the railing.

Eren: Yes mom?

The small, green eyed, brown haired boy walked over to his mom looking toward the door searching for who his mom was previously talking to.

Carla: Eren, this is Leon. He is Mr. DeKoning's son. You should make friends.

Carla moved to the left allowing Eren to get a better look at Leon, a boy with blue eyes, black hair and freckles scattered around his nose and cheeks. He'd never seen a boy with black hair and blue eyes before. Little did he know, kids sometimes made fun of him for this since it is not common in people and his parents looked this way too.
