"THAT BRITISH RAILWAYS", fumed Gordon, "now Gordon, we've known this day was coming, we've already got our third diesel. We can't stop it, so don't try to do something dumb", Scolded Edward, this shut Gordon up. "Quite right Edward", said James, all the engines were surprised, they hadn't expected James out of all engines to agree with Edward.
On the way to Barrow, Gordon saw a poster "Save The Iron Horses Of Sodor" it said, in bold letters. Gordon huffed, " They're right, those improper boxes on wheels, where's the dignity in them?", "now, now Gordon, what about Boco and bear, they've proved they are kind diesels". Gordon remembered Boco saving him from Bill and Ben, along with Bear and Henry's "Super Rescue" bear pulled the coaches, and his weight. Although, at "Thomas' Junction" his mood was vastly different. He needed to make an emergency stop for an elderly passenger. There he saw Mavis. Mavis spoke first " He-", "and who are you? Gordon said as he interrupted her, "oh- erm- I'm Mavis, although, I think you can read", she laughed. Gordon sniffed "It's a diesel" he murmured, "AND it's a small engine". It was lucky for Gordon, that the guard blew his whistle before Gordon could reply. That night at the sheds, Gordon complained to the others "I saw a diesel, she was a small tiny engine, what a little bug". "Pah Gordon, they play an important part to the railways" replied James, "James, are you alright," asked Henry, Slightly concerned. "Yes henry", James burst out "I'm fine, now go to sleep like a sensible engine", all the engines were quite surprised, but they soon drifted off to sleep. The next day, Gordon stopped at The junction again, he saw Mavis again, she shunted hr stone trucks and came over. Though before she could say anything The whistle blew for Gordon, he blew steam at Gordon and headed for the bridge leading for the harbor, but before he made it over the crossing, a lorry came swerving into the yard and ran over the crossing. Gordon hit the lorry and his front bogey came off, still moving he crawled his way onto the bridge before he could stop, when he finally did stop he was leaning off the bridge, looking down in the water. Gordon was terrified, he was shaking and tilting, Mavis rushed to the rescue, she took the coaches away and soon came back for Gordon. They attached strong chains and cables to Gordon, and after wheel slip and strain, Mavis pulled him back onto the bridge. "Guess we diesels aren't so bad after all, ay, Gordon", Gordon didn't reply, needless to say, Gordon didn't talk about "little diesels" for a long, long time after that.
