'Hurry damnit!' she thought as her tired legs were moving as fast as she could push them through the pain. She knew they were not far behind and she had to outrun them. But she'd never see this town before. How was she supposed to find an hiding place?

Turning a corner, the girl stopped inside a small alley and let herself fall against the wall. She had run for so long. Her legs were burning while her feet were completely numb and her lungs felt like they were full of knives. Even if she knew she was far from out of danger, even if she knew she had to keep running or all that would be for nothing... her body just wouldn't answer. For some minutes she stayed like this, breathing as much hair she could like not amount would ever fill her lungs fully again.

Then she suddenly heard footsteps near. It came from the main road and was slowly getting closer. There was only one person. Had they split up? One person would have been a piece of cake if she could use her gift, but with that damn collar she could sit on her chances to win any fight. All she could do was to run again and hide, but that was refused to her. Her numb legs politely ignored her command and she stayed sit against the wall. That was it. After all her wait for a chance to run away, all the efforts she put in her escape, she was going to be captured back in such a pathetic manner because her legs wouldn't carry her anymore... She closed her eyes tightly, not wanting to see that.

"Are you okay?"

Amity was shocked to hear the voice of a girl and looked up to face whoever spoke. She looked about 18 and had long brown hair and a tanned skin, probably latina. She wore a purple hoodie and jeans with a bag on her back. She had kind eyes too...

"You okay?" asked the girl again as she walked to Amity with a concerned look on her face. "I can can an ambulance or bring you to the clinic."

Amity looked at her in disbelief. This girl cared for her even tho they were complete strangers. And she didn't know her gift so it was unlikely she was doing this to win her favors either. Were normal people that altruistic?

"Huh... No. Thanks. I just ran too much is all. Don't worry about me and go on."

The last thing Amity wanted was for the first genuinely kind person she met to leave but she'd be in danger if she stayed...

"How much did you run?" asked the latina with a smile. "Are you training for a competition or some?"

Amity was about to answer another excuse when the horror shut her up. Right behind that girl was a muscular man wearing a black suit and aiming a gun at her head.

Seeing her panicked look, the latina turned around only to get herself face to face with the barrel.

"You got in the wrong people's business" said the man. "Get lost."

The girl didn't move an inch and she looking at him with killer eyes.

"Make me, big arms."

That line annoyed the man who decided to shut her up. But as he was about to shoot, the girl vanished in a flash of light. The guy didn't even had time to think before the foot of the now mid air girl on his left kicked his head and sent him against the wall which knocked him out.

"Better luck next time, stupid."

The teleporting latina hurriedly got to the girl on the floor and took Amity on her back. The latter was far too shocked (and still tired) to oppose any resistance.

"Where are you bringing me?" Amity asked as hed savior carried her away from the alley.

"Far from here." the girl smiled to her up her shoulders. "I bet there's more like him coming right? Just rest for now."

"Thanks... I'm Amity by the way."

"Oh right! I'm Luz. Nice to meet you."
