Two Broken Souls (A Nico Di Angelo Love Story)

Chapter 1

*Sam POV*

I get home from school and drop my stuff off in my room. Then I go to clean the house and then I will have to make my so called "family" dinner. My sister Mel goes to Clemson College. She's the only one other than my few friends that actually care about me. My father, Jeff, mainly drinks, smokes, and beats me. My mother, Lynn, pretty much does the same thing. I've tried running away before but I could never get very far and whenever I tried to tell anyone what they do to me no one would believe me and tell me I'm just a silly little girl looking for attention so I've stopped trying.

Now I guess I should tell you a little bit about me. I have long, wavy blond hair, and blue green eyes. My sister and I look almost identical. I'm a junior in high school and I'm not allowed to play any sports. I'm not really that tall but I'm definitely not short. I'm athletic and strong but there's nothing I can do to prove it. I also have ADHD and dyslexia which has never helped me with Jeff and Lynn. I used to be this happy go lucky girl but I've never been the same after Mel left and my "parents" started beating me. The only thing I don't have spend time convincing them to get me is makeup. They get it for me so I can cover up my bruises and scars. I've gotten used to it. They won't teach me how to drive incase I get in a car and drive away forever. I already know I'm not gonna go to collage. I'm just gonna be stuck here as their slave forever.

I finished cleaning and started cooking when Jeff came home. 'Oh great here it comes' I thought. And sure enough as soon as he came into the house he yelled at me for not having dinner ready in time and started punching me. I refuse to cry or scream. When he's satisfied he walks away and I finish dinner. By then Lynn is home and she has her go at me as well. I wait to be excused and when I am I go up to do homework. You see I take all honers classes so I'm always up late finishing homework. When I finally went to bed it was about 1:30 in the morning which sucks because I have to get up at 4:30 so I can shower, put a bunch of makeup on my face, get ready, make my lunch, and walk to the bus stop. The bus gets there around 6:00 and it's about a 10 minute walk from my house. Before I leave I have to make a pot of coffee. I always make extra and put sone in a plastic cup for myself.

When I get to school I put my stuff in my locker, grab my books, and walk around listening to music for a while. My bus gets to the school really early because my town doesn't have a high school so we have to go to another town. I finally decide that it's time to go to my first class which is Science. In my school we have a block schedule so classes are long but that's okay because we don't have them the next day. Today is an A day so I have Science, English, Spanish, and then Study Hall. In between English and Spanish is lunch. On B days I have Business, Calculus AB, Social Studies, and Gym. On these days Lunch is after Social Studies.

Today Science is really boring and we didn't do anything interesting. I got as much work as I could done so I could hopefully get a few more hours of sleep. The bell finally rings and I walk out of the classroom and go to where I usually meet up with Anne before we head to out next class. When I get there Lily, one of the school sluts, is yelling at her about something stupid. I of course go to defend my friend. I say, "Shut the hell up and leave us alone Lily."

She gets mad at me and punches me in the face. I am unfazed because I'm used to it but she thinks I'm in pain. By now a crowd has formed and is watching us. I send Anne a look, she understands and leaves. She is the only one I've told about my parents so she knows I can stop Lily from actually hurting me and that I let her do the first punch. You see in this school I'm the weird outcast who is known for just speaking her opinion, being a nerd, and everyone thinks I'm weak. Not many people like me so they think Lily will just beat the crap out of me. She tries to punch me again but in one swift motion I catch her fist. I inwardly laugh as I see everyones shocked faces. She tried to punch me again but yet again, I stop her. Then she tries to kick me. I catch her foot and flip her around; she lands face first on the floor. I wait for her to get up and when she does she charges at me. I step out of the way and she plows into the crowd. She comes at me again but this time I don't move. Instead I punch her in the face and break her nose. I then grab her and take her to front office explaining everything. The principle really likes me so he says it's fine and he understands. He then tells me to just go to class. I check my phone and see that Anne texted me. I unlock my phone to see what she said. She told me she got my stuff so I don't have to go to my locker. I text her that I'm on my way and head to English.
