A loud explosion echoed through the woods as two men slowly approached the cause. Insane laughter followed and made the larger shinobi shake his head with a sigh.

"Sasori's death must have affected Deidara worse than expected.", the shark-like ninja said, while giving his quiet partner a mildly worried look.

"Hm."

"What do you think leader-sama will do to Deidara, after we delivered him?"

"Depends on Deidara.", the raven-haired man said with a bored ton.

They could already smell scorched trees. The wind blew the smell of blood and earth into their noses, which made Kisame sneeze.

"You know, I'm tired of babysitting the kid just because his favorite puppet has been taken away from him.", Kisame exclaimed loudly as he jumped over a burning tree. They were getting closer.

"Its's not up to us, Kisame. If leader-sama wants us to bring Deidara back from his rampage, then we will do so, without questioning.", Itachi said.

"I know but still. We're S-rank criminals not nannies for some lousy brat." Kicking a stone in front of his feet Kisame was cursing. "Imagine Itachi-san. We, both feared members of Akatsuki, were sent to catch a kid that completely lost it"

Ignoring his lamenting partner, Itachi stopped and looked at the destruction in front of him. The blonde hadn't left much to see. Besides him, Kisame was wolf whistling.

"The little one did a great job levelling the area. I can see why Pain-sama wanted us the find him"

Nodding Itachi went on as a lone figure on a giant white bird caught his attention. Long blond hair was blowing in the wind as Deidara approached them with a peevish look on his dirty face.

"What are you doing here, un!", he screamed furious as he jumped down in front of Itachi. He nearly got into the face of the raven-haired while stabbing his chest exasperated.

"We are here to get you back to the hideout.", Itachi said monotonous as he caught the offending hand and threw it back to it's growling owner.

"You have no right to do so, un."

"In fact, we have. You should stop your temper tantrum and follow us." With that the Uchiha turned around to walk away but a hand on his shoulder stopped him in track. Sighing silently, he glanced behind him. Angry sparkling blue orbs stared at him and even without his Sharingan, Itachi knew what would follow.
Growling, Deidara's second arm shot out, which Itachi easily blocked. He took a step back and gave the blonde a cold stare out of menacing red eyes.

"Don't think you can fool me again, Uchiha! I won't let you use the same cheap trick, un!" With that the blonde bomber attacked anew. Itachi knew the other wasn't earnestly fighting, because he wasn't using his explosive clay.

However often Deidara might say that art was ephemeral, he still seemed hurt by Sasori's sudden death.
It looked like the younger one needed a valve to relieve his pain over the loss of his partner.

"What do you think you're doing?!", Kisame exclaimed, as Deidara threw another punch directed at Itachis face. Of course the raven sidestepped it in time.

With a quick movement, Itachi shot forward and grabbed the blonde by the neck. A low gasp escaped Deidara as his back collided with a tree trunk.

"Let go, un!", he venomously spat at the Uchiha, who only tightened the grip around his neck.

Deidara didn't want to look into the glowing red eyes of the man in front of him, which is why he averted his gaze to an irate Kiri-nin.

"You will behave now, Deidara. Don't force my hand again." Itachi said before withdrawing his hand and turning away.

"You don't understand a thing, you stupid Uchiha, un!"

"I know you are in pain over Sasori's demise."

"You know nothing about it!"

"Hm, maybe you a right. But you are still coming with us.", Itachi said, starting to walk away.

"Yeah, leader-sama will be furious. How could you come up with the stupid idea and attack a village near our base? That was utterly reckless. Besides, you should have helped him as his partner." The eyes of the shark-nin narrowed as Deidara stayed silent at that.

With his head hanging, he nodded briefly as he passed Kisame and stopped next to Itachi. Without looking at the black-haired one, he muttered silently.

"Do I have to be escorted or am I allowed to go back on my own, un?"

"Do as you please. But don't make us search for you again. It's tiring."

Without looking at the other Akatsuki members, Deidara nodded again and left the unnatural clearing on his large clay bird.

Narrowing his eyes Itachi followed the form of the blonde's retreating back. Deidara's current condition meant trouble.

A slight sense of concern crept into Itachi's heart, but he didn't let it reach his features. He knew how unstable the young bomber was. If he wasn't brought back under control quickly, Pain would lose patience with him.

Seeing his partner move in the corner of his eye, Itachi went off.

"We should head back too. Pain-sama will await us."

"Sure. The little blonde will be there before us anyway, but we don't need to give him such a big lead." Kisame said as he fell in line with the Uchiha. Grumbling the shark-nin thought that Deidara could have taken them with him instead of bolting alone.

While ignoring a muttering Kisame, Itachi was thinking about the troublesome blond. Deidara definitely had to be brought back under control and knowing him he wouldn't make it easy for them.

Thinking about the teen's strange behavior, Itachi got an idea how to tame his inner turmoil. He won't like it, but the younger one couldn't hate him any more anyway.
