Mavria had walked quite the distance while thinking over her past. For her, time moved faster when she was distracted by old memories. By now, she had made it to the tall pencil building by Buchstraße (Book Street), where the town center was. This was where Mr.Linden lived, which was quite interesting since nobody before had lived in the town square. But he had the funds to, so he set up construction, and here it was, the Die Lindenbuchhandlung. Mavria began to walk up the buildings' patio and rang the doorbell. As soon as the hearty tune rang out, a man who was tall and slender in a striped white and black suit loomed over her. He then bent down from his shadows to shake Mavria's hand.
"Welcome to Lindens' Library! My name is Linden Franklin, but you can call me Mr. Linden. How may I be of service?"
Mr. Linden's hand was so boney that for a split second, she had thought a skeleton had reached out to her instead of a man. Mavria hesitantly reached for his hand and shook it.
"Hello um, I w-was wondering if you remember a girl named Mavria..."
She had become more uncomfortable by the second of human contact. It was weird feeling someone else's skin. It had been years since Mavria had touched someone else, and the last person happened to be her brother. She missed him...
"Ah yes! Mavria Volkov, my goddaughter. Do you happen to be her young lady?," said Mr. Linden.
"Um, y-yes. You remember me?"
"Of course! Of course! Your voice is a little different, and so is your face and your..."
His voice trailed off for a moment, trying to think of how he could see the once jittery and joyful little girl in this dismal and depressed young lady. To not be rude, he finally found something to say.
"Eyes! Yes, your eyes, how could I ever forget those lovely eyes. So beautiful and full of life and mystery. Why your eyes even inspired one of my latest books."
Mavria blushed at the compliment in her eyes. No one has ever said anything about them, and the only one to ever admire them was her younger brother.
