Thomas had Mae in a head lock with his short sword in front of her face. Conner and Kaycie were next to me, too hurt to move. Thomas looked a whole lot different than before. His face was bleeding from every spot possible, except his eyes.
"How the hell are you alive?!" I yelled, jumping up and standing next to Jhett.
"Zack?" Thomas asked, backing away from Jhett and I.
"Let Mae go and this doesn't have to get ugly," I said, walking towards him with my weapon drawn.
Thomas didn't listen to me and kept walking backwards with Mae still in a headlock with his weapon up to her neck.
"How about no," Thomas said, stopping right outside the treeline.
"C'mon, Thomas. Let her go," Jhett said, trying to negotiate with him.
Thomas smiled through his scarred face and threw Mae onto the ground and lifted up his weapon. Jhett ran to save Mae, but Thomas turned and shoved Jhett onto the ground. Thomas lifted his sword into the air.
"Not again!" I yelled, sliding in front of Mae and blocking the blow from Thomas.
"Damn it, Zack!" Thomas yelled, grabbing my arm and slinging me across the ground.
My machete flew from my hands and landed a few feet from where I was laying. I looked up and saw my machete on the ground right next to Thomas' leg. Thomas lifted up his weapon again and missed Mae's head by a few centimeters. I got up, grabbed the machete and sliced the back of Thomas' right leg.
"Damn it!" Thomas yelled, falling backwards.
I ran up next to Mae and lifted her up onto her feet. I put her at the base of a tree and saw that her leg was beaten up pretty badly.
"Do you have an cloth?" I asked.
"No, I don't," Mae replied.
"Damn. We need something to stop the bleeding or you'll bleed out," I said.
"Zack!" Mae yelled.
Thomas got back up onto his feet and was running at me, his weapon drawn. I turned around and blocked his blow right to Mae's head. I pushed back and Thomas stumbled backwards, but regained his balance.
"Just give up already. It will be a painless death," Thomas said.
"I'll die fighting," I replied, running at him with my machete and bringing it down onto his Short Sword.
Thomas shoved me back and I fell onto my butt, my machete flying out of hand and four yards from where I was laying at. Thomas started walking towards me, weapon in hand.
I started to crawl backwards, but Thomas caught up to me and brought his weapon above his head... and BAM!! Mae came from nowhere with my machete and stabbed Thomas in the side. Mae was still limping from the other injury.
"Need a hand?" Mae asked, putting her hand out to help me up.
I still had no idea how I had gotten here with Thomas being alive and Conner + Kaycie being already knocked out next to me. Mae handed me my machete to finish off Thomas. Mae and I walked over to Thomas.
"Zack... you don't have the guts..." Thomas muttered.
I got ready for the blow. I lifted my machete into the air and got hit from my left side by something. I was flung across the field. Once again, my machete flew from my hand. I stood up and saw Seth helping up Thomas with Madison and Tristan behind him.
"What the hell?" I said, trying to process what was happening.
"Took you long enough to figure it out," Seth said.
"Figure out what. That I thought you were dead?" I asked.
"No, you idiot. That we were working with Salvullaz," Madison said.
I was confused to see Seth and Madison had survived the building on Christmas and more so that Tristan was alive too. The fire from the house had spread all around us now and the fire was now surrounding us.
Seth came running at me with a machete(not mine). I dodged his first blow and caught his arm before he could make another one. Mae limped over to my machete and picked it up.
"Zack!" Mae yelled, throwing my machete into the air.
I kicked Seth away and caught it, smiling at him.
"Come at me, loser," I said, running towards Seth.
Seth came running at me too. Our weapons made contact and I kicked Seth back. An arrow came flying from behind me and missed Seth's face by an inch. I turned around and saw Conner, Kaycie, Jhett, and Mae, their weapons drawn. I smiled and turned back to Thomas, Seth, Tristan, and Madison.
"Who's ready to die?" I asked, running at the group. Conner, Kaycie, Mae, and Jhett right behind me.
I got the first hit on Seth, knocking him to his butt and Conner launched tons of arrows into the air, one of which hit Thomas' left shoulder. Jhett and Kaycie fought off Tristan and Madison, Conner fought off Seth, and Mae and I fought off Thomas. They were outnumbered, but unfortunately for us, they didn't give up.
"He's getting away!" Conner yelled.
I turned my head to see Seth running into the fire and up into a tree. I turned to Conner and Mae, then ran after him.
"Zack! You're going to kill yourself!" Mae yelled.
I stopped and turned around to her.
"Well, at least I died trying," I replied, turning back around to the tree Seth had gone up into.
I jumped over the wall of fire and up the same tree Seth was up. When I made it to the top, I could see Seth's silhouette running deeper into the flames. It turns out that the fire had spread a whole lot faster than we anticipated. The fire had spread half a kilometer in all directions.
"Seth! Where the hell are you!?" I yelled, trying to keep my balance on the tree limbs.
I caught up to Seth and grabbed his leg. Seth hit the tree limb and was now hanging on over a raging fire. Seth and I were now hanging over an open fire that could kill us in four seconds. I started to kick Seth, trying to get him to fall, but he pulled himself back up.
"Damn it!" I yelled, pulling myself up onto the branch.
I saw Seth jump down from the tree and I did the same. I jumped into a little circle that hadn't been eaten by the fire yet. I stood facing Seth, Seth was looking over at the fire.
"Seth?" I asked.
"Why are you hard to kill?" Seth asked.
"It's because I'm determined to keep my friends alive," I replied.
"I thought you'd be easy to be killed since you're a weak little crap," Seth said back.
"Why did you turn?" I asked Seth, who was facing opposite to me.
"I had a greater potential than you if I turned. Have you ever wondered how we found each other? Salvullaz sent me from hell to kill you specifically," Seth said.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"I died about 400 years ago. I was a troubled boy, I stole and once murdered a family. I killed a family just before I died. I died at thirteen because of a disease, not sure what it was, though," Seth replied.
"So you were sent to hell and Salvullaz brought you back to kill me?" I asked, trying to understand what he was saying.
"Yup. That's about it," Seth said, the fire still raging next to us.
"Why did you kill that family?" I asked.
"Their son was a bully and I had enough of his antics, so I killed off every member of his family," Seth replied.
"So, it's either you or I die?" I asked, feeling stupid after I said it.
"Duh," Seth said, turning around and charging at me.
I blocked his first blow and threw him against a tree trunk. I pinned up against the tree truck, but he kicked me off of him and started to climb up the tree. I came up right behind him and grabbed his leg to try and pull back onto the ground, but I missed and smashed my chin into the tree.
"Damn!" I yelled, falling backwards onto the ground.
The ground was now almost completely covered with fire. I stood up and looked in the tree where Seth was standing. He was smiling at me, watching my death unfold. I looked at the base of the tree and took a leap of faith over the fire.
"What...?" Seth muttered, watching my jump over the flames.
I grabbed onto the tree and pulled myself up. I stood right behind Seth and started walking towards him. He was standing on a thin limb that was almost about to break. Seth turned around to look at me.
"Holy crap. You've done it, idiot," Seth said, running at me.
Our weapons collided and I pushed him back. He started stumbling backwards and fell, but caught onto the branch and pulled himself up onto the branch.
"Just give up, Seth!" I yelled.
Seth pulled himself up and swung at my leg, grazing mu shin. I fell backwards on the limb, barely holding onto the branch. Seth walked over to me and tried to hit me in the head with his weapon but missed and hit the branch. Then, I had an idea. I started to slide down the branch and pulled myself up onto the branch.
"Hit me again," I said, Seth running at me.
I came running towards him too and lifted my machete into the air and brought it down onto the branch.
"You've killed us both," Seth, realizing what was happening.
I smiled, grabbed him by the shoulders and pinned him against the tree limb.
"Now we both will die!" Seth yelled, angrily.
"At least you will die too," I said, the branch cracking underneath us.
"It's all over, Zack," Seth said.
"You bet your fat ass it is. Bye-bye. I win," I said, the branch breaking underneath us and we both fell into the flaming ground.
