Chapter 21- The Mall

I was with my mom at the grocery store. It's pretty boring here, but at least I can chill in the cart if my legs get tired. "Janely, you guys need chips at home?" "We have about 1 more bag of cheez doodles." My mom put some bags of cheez doodles and Tostitos in the cart. "If you spot any chips you and your siblings would like, put it in the cart." My dad liked going grocery shopping, he always became like a little kid. That's what I love about my parents...they do everything and anything together...they have a real love relationship...I want that in my future...

Seojun grabbed some Doritos from the higher shelves. "Damn, you tall. You were literally shorter than me not too long ago." Seojun shrugged and said "I grew. I have dad's genes." "How tall are you now?" He responded with "I'm only 13, Im at 5"7 1/2 for now." I stood there in silence. "You're only what? 5"7 1/2, get your butt over here and lemme smack you, what the heck?! I'm over here at 5 foot!!" "Shortie." I can sense our mom glaring at us not to fight. "I better not hear any fighting." "Nope. Not at all, mom."

The triplets were accompanying my dad on which ice creams to purchase. Junlie and Hayul wanted to buy every single chocolate flavored ice cream they have, while my dad wanted to get some neopolitan ice cream and some mint chocolate chip just to play around with our uncle joon. Changha also wanted to get some chocolate flavored ice creams but vanilla as well. My mom decided that we would just buy every flavor, which would mean we won't have to come and buy ice cream for awhile. More money but we won't have to keep buying more ice cream the next time we come. Why couldn't I stay home? I'm pretty bored here...

After we had left the grocery store, my mom and dad were packing everything into the trunk of the car, while the rest of us kids got into the car. Me and Seojun sitting in the backseats while the triplets sat in the very very backseats. I plugged in my headphones, which Seojun grabbed one and put one in his ear. "Heeeyyyy, Seojun, give it back." "Lemme listen to your music, please. I'm literally just as bored as you are." "Fine, but I usually play kpop." "Noona, We have kpop idols as parents, I can handle it." I rolled my eyes smiling and said "Oookayyyy."

We went home to drop off the stuff and then we left to the mall. Don't think I ain't notice those hickeys on Serenity's neck when we went home. Seojun noticed them too, and the triplets thought they were bruises. Aah, such innocence that they have.

When we arrived at the mall, my parents actually let me and Seojun go off on our own while they did some of their own shopping. "Where you wanna go, Seojun?" He looked around and said "One of the clothing stores. Just to look around. Maybe get a new sweater or something." He shrugged and I said "Alright. Wanna go to the Gap?" He nodded his head and we went off on our way. He handed me one of his Bluetooth headphones and said "Here. I'm probably not playing the music you would wanna listen to but at least it's something. You shared your headphones with me so I might as well do the same. I smiled and took it and put it in my ear. "Thanks."

As we arrived to the store, Seojun walked over to the boys section, while I took a visit to the girls section. Of course, they're probably not gonna have anything I like, but it's always worth a shot. I searched through the clothes and heard some giggling somewhere near me. Probably some teenage lovers making out in the clothing aisle or something. I noticed a pretty yellow crop top hoodie, this is something I would wear around Kai, for like a cute date or something.

What am I thinking? We'll never go on one...he has volleyball on his schedule now, it'll be even more impossible to score a date with him. I'll be able to attend his games and cheer him on in the crowd and that's it...at least I have the chance to be his friend...I picked out a pair of jeans to go with the outfit and walked to wherever Seojun is. I texted him instead. This kid is always moving around the store.

Me: Hey, where you at?? The store is not as big as it looks.

Seojun: Sorry, I just got caught up in some teenagers talking. I was very invested in their conversation.

Me: Oooh, where are you at tho?

Seojun: Boys aisle still. The couple are literally like 4 feet away from me.

I walked over to the boys aisle and tapped on Seojun's shoulder. He looked at me and said "Thank god you're here. The girl was talking about how she was so happy to go on a date with him. It was so cheesy." I smiled faintly and said "Shoot, I would be lucky to also go on a date with someone but that's never gonna happen." He practically gagged and said "That's disgusting. Wait- a guy?" I nodded my head and said "Hermana. Since when did you start having a crush? I've never seen this side of you before." I smiled to myself and said "Just recently." "Well, if he ever breaks your heart, you know who to come to. I'm always ready to protect you if something goes wrong. Remember that. I may hate you guys to death sometimes, but I will give a beating to a boy that needs it. Just like you'll give a beating to a girl that needs it as well." "Periodt."

Seojun showed me an among us hoodie that he spotted and of course, he bought it. With what money? We have our moms credit card, don't worry. We're pretty responsible enough for her to give it to us. Don't think we're like some rich kids or something, we're not those kinds of kids. We usually refuse our parents credit cards and try to pay with our own money, but they insist on letting us save up.

As we were about to leave the store. Seojun pointed to the teenagers that were being all lovey dovey to each other. The boy seemed familiar. The girl dragged him to another aisle and I was able to catch a little glimpse of his face. "Come on, let's get going, Janely." "No wait, I recognize the boy." Seojun shifted his head in my direction and looked along with me.

The boy was Kai. With a girl...Katniss?! You gotta be fucking kidding me!!

Katniss had a bunch of clothes in her hands and Kai was holding some bags that most likely belonged to her. "Now what do you think of this shirt with these shorts? Better for the summer time, right?" "Yeah, but wouldn't it be better to buy it during spring time, so you won't have to wait so long to wear it?" She rolled her eyes and said "Nah, it's better to buy it now." "O-okay then." He mumbled something to himself and followed her to cash register. I can notice from here that this did not look like all her money. She held her hand out to Kai and he handed her a credit card. Was she using him for money or something?! Do they actually know each other and Kai is just pretending like he doesn't? Is this new kid act even real???

I saw them walk out and go to another store together. To which I had followed with Seojun.

"So, we're gonna follow them until they leave?" Seojun looked at me. "Yes. We. Are." Seojun clapped his hands and said "I'm gonna love this."
