His raven hair swayed aggressively, together with his matching hood. Run, run, run. Orpheus kept that leg moving forward in rush. The thing is still there, behind, chasing him vigorously. It already marked him as a prey, and he can't change it. Praying would do nothing, he was not supposed to bring disgrace to his family. Not like this. Wouldn't it be embarrassing for someone who should protect and lead the Kingdom to fail to protect themselves from some trivial condition such as... beast encounter? He's supposed to be the hunter, not the prey. This is so going to taint his family.
Adrenaline rushed through his veins, yet he fell on his face. Orpheus mind kept cursing his stubbornness that came at such a bad timing. This is it, he's going to be a feast for this beast at such a young age. Perhaps his father is right, he's good at nothing.
He's cornered now, Orpheus' really sure that his heartbeat is loud enough to be heard by the beast right now. Nothing really matters now, maybe death isn't all that bad. At least no more of those ridiculous rules or customs he always must obey to. That sounds better, right? No; he wants to live and run away.
"Calm down," a feminine voice can be heard.
Right before the beast could swallow him alive, a little girl approached them without any sign of fear. She didn't look ordinary at all. Perhaps there was a reason? Yes, it seemed like the girl had no shade in her complexion. What kind of human doesn't have any pigments in their body? Poor little Orpheus, never heard about albinism before.
The beast approached her slowly without any hostility. It lowers their head and lets the girl pet them just like a puppy greeting its master.
"Easy now... I'm here," she whispered in a calming manner.
Orpheus cleared his throat, "Thanks for your kindness, may I uhm... return the favour?"She doesn't say anything, she doesn't even blink. Though Orpheus noticed one strange thing when he looked into the girl's eyes. The eye is supposed to be the window of the soul, but hers doesn't reflect any sign of it at all. Those eyes give Orpheus chills, they seem dead, especially with her pale skin complexion. Though, it is quite mesmerising for him to see how colourless she was. However, seeing how she doesn't acknowledge him at all kind of hurts his pride.
"Excuse me?" he said again, trying to check if she heard any of his words.
Still no words came from her, she walks away and left him alone there. The way she ignores him ticks Orpheus off. He hates it. How dare she. All he was trying to do is be polite and show appreciation for her help, yet, she won't even look at him?
Orpheus growled, kicking the soils beneath him. How come a commoner like her humiliated him like that?
"How dare she! That's why I hate peasants," Orpheus mumbled.
