"(name) seems quite popular." killua says, sitting down at our lunch table. "even some of the sophomores are talking about you."

"wow, (name). that sounds great." gon says, not realizing that i was attracting negative attention.

"please, can we not speak about this?" kurapika asked, staring at the food in front of him.

"come on, kurapika," killua starts, "you going to stand up for your girlfriend or not?"

"girlfriend?" kurapika chokes.

"don't tell me that the two of you still aren't dating." leorio gasps.

"we've barely known each other for a month!" kurapika exclaims.

"i would have made them my girlfriend in a week if i was a crazy about them as you are, kurapika!" leorio shouts.

"keep your voice down before more people find something to talk about." i hiss. the fact that i knew people were going around talking about me did bother me, but i didn't know how exactly to handle this.

"don't worry, (name). they'll find someone else to talk about soon enough." kurapika says, patting my shoulder.

"you know kurapika, if you just announce that they two of you are official,
maybe people will stop trying to break the two of you apart." leorio suggests.

"you really think that'll work?" i ask. i believe getting into a relationship with kurapika will only make them more jealous.

"what else can you do?" killua asks, biting down on his food.

"wait, so you guys don't want (name) to be popular?" gon asks.

killua turns around, explaining to gon what was actually going on with me.

"oh, i'm sorry to hear that then, (name)." gon says.

"i wouldn't worry about it too much," i start, "like kurapika said, sooner or later they will find someone else to go talking about."

"i don't know how you can stay so positive about this, (name)." killua sighs. "if it were me, i don't know what i would do."

i decided to keep up this act of the whispers not bothering me. it seemed to make killua proud of me. it also seemed to keep kurapika from going mad.

"hey, kurapika."

the blond hums in response.

"do you think we could go back down to that cafe? i want to see my friend again."

"that sounds good." kurapika smiles.

"what cafe? can i come?" leorio asks, jumping around.

i knew exactly what to say.

"sorry, it's a date, leorio."

"fine. i'm only not going because i don't want to be a third wheel." leorio says, sitting back down in his chair. "so does this mean the two of you are official now?"

i felt my cheeks heating up. what are me and kurapika? are we really on that level already?

i looked over to kurapika. he seemed to have a hard time figuring this all out.

"hey leorio," i start, "what do you think me and kurapika mean to each other?"

i want to figure out how other people view the two of us.

"the two of you seem very close. this was since the beginning. you guys got along so well. i think the two of you might be soulmates." the man with dark hair said.
