It was December seventeenth and Lucifer was out Christmas shopping. He was almost done, but Chloe had called with a few more requests.

"Oh, and could you pick up lettuce, I'm making salad to go with dinner tonight."
"Right, will due Detective."
"Thank you, love you bye."
"Love you bye."

Lucifer hung up, or he thought he hung up, before continuing his Christmas shopping. Not even two seconds before he'd put this phone in his pocket, he heard a familiar voice calling his name.

"Lucifer! How have you been?"
"Uh, hey George. It's been a while. I've been good. How are you?"
"Good. Hey, me and a couple of the guys were gonna go get a drink. You should come."
"As fun as that sounds, I have to finish Christmas shopping for my fiancée and daughter."

Chloe and Trixie were at home listening. They were sat close on the couch listening to this friendly run in. It wasn't ethical, but neither one wanted to hang up just yet. After Lucifer said "daughter" Trixie got all jumpy and smiley.

"You have daughter?"
"Well, my fiancée has a little girl."
"You got stuck raising her?"

Trixie went red in the face, and on instinct Chloe muted them.

"No! No. I'm willingly helping raise her. The little devil packs a punch, but she's the best kid I've ever met."

That calmed Trixie down and made Chloe smile.

"Why doesn't he ever say this stuff at home mom?"
"I don't know. I think he's afraid of how we'll react."

Trixie nodded then went back to listening.

"Uh, anyways I need to finish present shopping and then stop by the grocery store or they'll both kick my ass."

Chloe let out a light chuckle while Trixie stifled her laughter. Chloe then decided they had listened to enough.

"Hey! Why'd you hang up?"
"We've listened to enough. Go cut up the vegetables for the salad."
"Fine."

Lucifer got back from shopping about an hour later. The ladies heard the door shut and Trixie jumped up from the game they were playing. She ran over to where he was standing at the door, followed by Chloe walking over and helping Lucifer with his bags. Trixie hugged him forcefully.

"I love you too."
"Pardon?"
"Monkey, set the table for dinner."

Trixie let go and before Lucifer could say another word Chloe was kissing him. Gently, but in the way where he could tell he'd done something good. After Chloe pulled away, he started.

"As much as I loved that, what was it for?"

Chloe hesitated, still holding onto his neck.

"We may have been a little bad and overheard your conversation with George."
"What? But I hung up."
"No, you probably missed the button and then put the phone in your pocket."
"Oh."
"Anyways, we heard part of the conversation and appreciated everything you said hence the hugs and kisses."

Lucifer smiled at Chloe, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink.

"Well, maybe I should start being a bit more open at home."
"Yeah. I think we'd all really like that."
