She protected me. Yet still. I couldn't answer her question for how oblivious I was! Now she's not around anymore! What have I done! I actually...loved her....

Her laugh. Her smile. The way she always had such a far away look in her eyes yet she was so close to me. The way her grey eyes lit up when she smiled. All the jobs we've done together. Yet....yet....I couldn't do anything to stop this....

~Flash back~

Monochrome shy walked up to you. She wasn't wearing her normal outfit but a dark red dress. She had a light blush across her cheeks as she stopped infront of you. She looked up at you then took a deep breath. "(y/n)...D-Do you like me...."

"Of course I like you Monochrome!" You answered happily smiling

"R-realy!?!" She said surprised as her blush spreads across her face and darkens

"Yeah! We're great friends aren't we! Of course I'd like you." You answered oblivious of what she had meant.

"O-oh...I-I see" Tears threatened to leak from her eyes but she held them back. Mustering up the best smile she could, she smiled cheerfully at you then turned around and walked away. When she was out of your line of vision she ran into the guild house, went to second floor and took the most dangerous S-Class job there was. Minutes later she went down stairs. Told Makarov her job and left to pack.

You walked to the guild house after Monochrome had left. Then talked to Mirajane for a while. You were bored talking to her until she brought up something that perk your intrest.

"It seems Monochrome does have a crush."

"Really? Who?"

"Don't know. She didn't say. Only that today she'll ask him if he liked her."

You felt your heart sank. "D-did she go to the tree to speak to her crush..." You swallowed hard hoping to hear a no, but to your worst of luck.

"Yes actually. She said that the two been friends for so long. That she feels this might be the only chance she'll have the courage to ask him"

"A-alright..." You said shakily.

"(y/n). I'd want to go with a Monochrome on the job she just took. She'll be a the train station in a few minutes so go hurry up and pack" Makarov said knowing who exactly his 'granddaughter' like and heard their conversation.

You nodded and left in a hurry.

~time skip at the battle~

Monochrome was in her Golden Heart form and was fighting with her sword Goddess. You were attacking the beast with your fire magic encasing it in your flames. Monochrome hadn't spoken to you at all. She didn't even make any eye contact. While caught up in thoughts you hadn't notice the Yggdrasil attack you, but before you could even process what was going on, Monochrome pushed you a side and took the hit.

Your eyes widen as you saw Monochrome fall onto the ground with a faint 'thump.' With rage now in you, your fire burned the Yggdrasil into a crisp. You ran over to Monochrome as she bled heavily. She smiled softly and closed her eyes happily. "I-I lo-love you (y-y/n)...just ne-need to say that...before I leave..."

Tears filled your eyes as you checked her pulse. 'It's faint...but there's still a heart beating...' Tears slipped down your cheeks.

"I-I'm tired....I just need-"

"NO! I'M NOT GOING TO LOOSE YOU!!!" You yelled at the top of your lungs as more tears flowed down your cheeks.

She smiled faintly. "I-I'm sorry...." Her hand fell limp from your grasp. Her breathing slowed down as more blood flowed out of her body. You tried, tried and tried countless times to wake her up and check her pulse. You didn't want to admit it. You didn't want to believe it. Monochrome. She was gone. Forever...

You cried out softly as if she was going to hear you and say otherwise. "I was a fool...."
